Rakib Hossain won the best male final at the 31st Bangladesh National Championships

The thirteen finals of the 31st edition of the Bangladesh Men’s National Championships featured in their capital city in Dhaka.
Bangladesh sent boxers to the recent ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships to Chiang Mai, Thailand and also to the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships which took place in Colombo, Sri Lanka this May.
The minimumweight (48kg) is always a strong category in Bangladesh and Army’s Anik Howlader earned the title this time, after beating Mehedi Hasan Mim and Mohamed Limon in the final stages of the event.
Army’s Mohamed Ariful Islam competed already at the 2013 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Subic Bay and he had enough experience to beat Shafiqul Islam Robin and Mohamed Russell Kabir in the key contests at the flyweight (51kg).
Army’s Rakib Hossain delivered one of the best performances in the entire National Championships and he faced a rising star in the final of the bantamweight (54kg), Utshob Ahmed who represented Bangladesh at the Asian Championships as well. Rakib Hossain had the great footwork in their final meeting to beat the 21-year-old promising opponent in Dhaka.
The next Army boxer, Mohamed Ruzin Reza eliminated Mohammed Hossain Ali of Khilgaon Pragati Sangsad in the semi-finals of the featherweight (57kg) and he had a seriously hard but victorious battle against a national team member, Mohamed Abu Talha.
Mohamed Hossain Ali competed at the World Military Championships in Russia four years ago and he was too strong for Mohamed Al-Sani in their final meeting. Mohamed Selim Hossain moved up to the welterweight (67kg) and he had the clear success over Emon Mehdi Hasan in the final.
One of the veterans in Bangladesh, Army’s Mohamed Rubel Hossain defeated Mohamed Arif Hossain in the final of the middleweight (75kg) which was the next key bout in Dhaka.
The South Asian Games winner Mohamed Jewel Ahmed of Ansar controlled all of his bouts at the light heavyweight (80kg) in Dhaka where an Army boxer, Mohamed Mehdi Hasan claimed the title of the super heavyweight (+92kg).
