Qaddous and Al-Hasakie ruled their finals at the Syrian Youth National Championships

Syria hosted its Elite Men’s National Boxing Championships in the Teshrin Sports Complex in Damascus but the country was able to arrange another competition within a very short period. Their Youth National Championships was held at the Assad Sports Complex in Latakia which was another four-days long competition.

The Syrian Youth National Championships saw the participation of 94 boxers and the 2006 and 2007 born athletes had the right to compete in Latakia. The management of the Syrian Boxing is planning to send 5 or 6 youth talents to the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships which starts in Astana on April 25.

The local squad of Latakia won team rankings in the Syrian Youth National Championships while the Police Club was the runner-up. The city of Damascus finished on the third place, the Army Club ranked on the 4th position while Hama and Aleppo were the next in the official team rankings.

Latakia’s Alhassan Qaddous won his first national title still in the 2019 Syrian Schoolboys National Championships and he was quarter-finalist at the 2022 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. The 18-year-old Qaddous dominated the light welterweight (63.5kg) in the national event and defeated Police’s Thaier Oudia as well.

Hama’s Haiedar Younies Ghaqieli celebrated his first national title five years ago as a schoolboy and he has international experience as well. The 18-year-old boxer moved up to the light heavyweight (80kg) and he managed to beat Hadi Hassan in the final bout.

Ali Sheir Khalaf Al-Hasakie is the best talent in Syria in this age group and the medical student impressed once again in his next national event. The ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships bronze medallist cruiserweight (86kg) boxer defeated a local boy, Hassan Younes in the final of the competition.

Latakia’s Khoudir Hassan (51kg), Damascus’ Hahaa Ismaiel (57kg), Army’s Nour Al-Safitli (67kg), Hama’s Issa Hamede (71kg) and Army’s Mohamed Al-Khouli were the further notable winners at the Syrian Youth National Championships.
