President of India Boxing Federation Mr. Ajay Singh appointed as ASBC EC Member
President of India Boxing Federation Mr. Ajay Singh was appointed as Executive Committee member of the Asian Boxing Confederation. The candidacy of the Indian President was supported by ASBC President Mr. Serik Konakbayev and all the other ASBC Executive Committee members.
India Boxing Federation elected new President and Board members in Mumbai last October which was a new step in the country to find the way back to their successes. The new era in India’s boxing life began after these important elections in the country where the number of the registered boxers are more than 50,000.
Mr. Ajay Singh of Uttarakhand became the new President in the India Boxing Federation winning the elections by large margin of difference receiving 49 votes in Mumbai. The 51-year-old Mr. Singh is the Chairman and Managing Director of the Spicejet Airlines and has got great leadership experiences in India.
India had three qualified boxers in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games but Shiva Thapa, Manoj Kumar and Vikas Krishan Yadav failed to get any medals in Brazil. India has got great future potential in boxing, the level of their coaches, R&Js, junior and youth boxers are also world class therefore the new management of the country are expecting top results in the upcoming AIBA and ASBC championships.
India hosted the AIBA Commission Meetings in February and planning to welcome all boxers in the AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships in the country in November. India will have the great possibility in our sport to take medals in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games which is also an excellent opportunity for all Asian countries.
