Pornchita Singhaburan delivered a surprise on the long second day at the Thailand Elite National Championships
A long competition day with 40 bouts were held in the second session at the Thailand National Elite Boxing Championships in the Muak Lek District which is holding from their women and men boxers from November 16th until the 22nd. Pornchita Singhaburan delivered the surprise of the day in Muak Lek while the Tokyo Olympians shined in the second day of boxing in the national event.
Altogether 213 bouts have been scheduled in the new edition of the Thailand Elite National Boxing Championships in Muak Lek. There are more than 16 boxers in almost all of the weight categories in the national event where some of the divisions are crowded with more than 25 participating athletes. Boxers who were born between 1980 and 2001 are eligible to attend in the Thailand Elite National Boxing Championships.
The women boxers can compete in five weight categories in the national event: at the light flyweight (48kg), at the flyweight (51kg), at the featherweight (57kg), at the lightweight (60kg) and at the welterweight (69kg). The male boxers are competing for the medals in six different weight classes in Muak Lek: light flyweight (49kg), flyweight (52kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (63kg), welterweight (69kg) and middleweight (75kg).
Pornchita Singhaburan is a young talent in their female team who competed already out of Thailand in the recent years but she was not the favourite against Jeerapark Inkam in the second day of boxing. Inkam competed at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships but she was not able to control her contest against Singhaburan in their lightweight (60kg) contest. The 20-year-old Singhaburan caused a surprise on Day2 when she won the bout by split decision against the experienced rival.
In one of the most anticipated contests of the day AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Sudaporn Seesondee met with FISU University World Champion Ratchadaporn Saoto at the lightweight (60kg). Seesondee has already qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games and proved that she is in top form. Saoto has got also high number of international bouts but she was unable to stop Seesondee’s attacks who won their contest by RSC in the second round.
Pranida Kaewkankoon delivered the second surprise of the women’s lightweight (60kg) in the second day of boxing in the Thailand Elite National Championships. She met with AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships competitor Kittiya Nampai and unexpectedly she eliminated her taller rival by split decision. Two-time ASBC Asian Women’s Youth Champion Porntip Buapa opened her campaign with a clear success over Napaporn Keiwnoi in the same lightweight (60kg).
Another Thai female Tokyo Olympian boxer, ASBC Asian Women’s Youth Champion 19-year-old Baison Manikon spent less than two rounds in the ring and stopped Kaewruedee Kamthakrapoom in the first preliminary round of the welterweight (69kg). Another international stage boxer in this category, Janjaem Suwannapheng also stopped her first rival, Panthiwa Boontanai and the two talents will be meeting each other in the quarter-finals. Thailand’s Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event silver medallist and AIBA Youth World Champion Thitisan Panmod dominated his first preliminary contest against Kwanchai Pleankoon at the men’s flyweight (52kg). Cologne Boxing World Cup winner Wuttichai Yurachai had a tough opening contest against Atiratch Wuttipan but he survived the dangerous moments and advanced to the last 16 of the flyweight (52kg).
