The most important Asian officials including ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba followed the bouts in the first day of the event in Kuwait City. Altogether 150 boxers from 21 nations will be competing for the medals in Kuwait City’s Shaikh Al-Abdullah Sports Complex.
The ASBC Asian Schoolboys Confederation Boxing Championships is a new milestone in our continent and it is holding at the first time. Boxers who were born in 2005 and in 2006 are eligible to compete in the event for the 14 available titles.

Philippines’ Joshua Sorillo won the first bout of the whole competition
In the first bout of the whole competition Philippines’ Joshua Sorillo had to meet with Sri Lanka’s Senuka Dulran Weerasinghe at the 37kg weight class. Both boxers landed high number of punches in the first round when the Sri Lankan looked active. The Filipino southpaw found his best rhythm in the second and his left-handed hooks reached the target several times. The Sri Lankan talent kept too huge distance and moved back before his attacks but Bago City’s 14-year-old boxer was able to beat him securing the first success for the Philippines in Kuwait City.

Jordan and Tajikistan won their opening contests in Kuwait City
Jordan’s Awos Mohammed Eshaish has got a very strong boxing family name in his country who began the sport two years ago. The 14-year-old Jordanian was technically better than Kuwait’s Jaber Alotaibi who fought bravely but Eshaish caught him several times in their contest. Following Jordan’s first victory, Tajikistan’s Ruslan Gafurov proved his technical superiority in spite of the fact he is only 13. The Tajik boxer, whose elder brother is also in the sport, dominated all of the rounds against Syria’s Alhasan Qadous and advanced to the last eight of the 37kg weight class.

Turkmenistan’s Alisher Orazbayev won a top fight at the 40kg while Afghanistan’s Amiri had a quick success
Turkmenistan’s 14-year-old Alisher Orazbayev was gold medallist already in their 2018 Schoolboys National Championships and he proved top quality of boxing in the first round against Philippines’ Abing Van Hendriche at the 40kg weight class. The Central Asian boxer impressed with his technical skills each round and defeated a such competitive rival as the Filipino who had already 70 bouts. In the same category Afghanistan’s Mohammad Younus Amiri spent only short time in the ring and the referee confirmed his RSC success over Palestine’s Ismail Ghaith.

Uzbekistan’s 13-year-old Farrukh Tulaganov made the show on Day1
Kyrgyzstan’s Abdulaziz Burkushev is an experienced boxer already but he had to meet with Uzbekistan’ No.1 Farrukh Tulaganov who claimed gold medal at the Zirve Schoolboys Boxing Championships in Baku two months ago. The Uzbek boxer switched his stance several times during their contest which is seriously rare technical element among the schoolboys. Tulaganov is spending his first year in this age group but his skills amazed the judges and the crowd as well. Tulaganov was also too strong for the Kyrgyz boxer and the referee counted twice Burkushev following tough actions.

Philippines’ Reymond Lofranco proved his talent at the 46kg weight class
Philippines’ Reymond Lofranco has got nearly 100 contests already during his career who arrived to Kuwait City as one of the favourites for the gold medal at the 46kg weight class. The 13-year-old Filipino began his boxing career at the age of 6 and proved his excellent technical skills in the first round against Iraq’s Mohammed Hussein Jasim. The Iraqi boxer did not find the best weapons against Lofranco who looked confident from the first seconds and advanced to the quarter-finals.

The favourites marched into the Top8 at the 46kg weight class
Thailand’s Phisit Paochanthuek competes at the very first time out of his country but he impressed against Sri Lanka’s Kavindu Madushan Karunasinha and won their contest by unanimous decision. India’s Nikhil had excellent footwork and the southpaw was too smart for Iran’s Adnan Gorgich in the first preliminary round of the 46 kg weight class. One of the best performances in this division was delivered by Uzbekistan’s Boburbek Bobojonov who was too strong for Afghanistan’s Omran Ahmadi in a one-sided contest.
