Palestine’s 14 top boxers train in their national camp to prepare for the future goals

Palestine’s 14 best boxers from the schoolboys up to the elites returned to their national training camp two weeks ago to prepare for the next goals. Palestine is a developing boxing country with excellent strategic plans and their talents proved their upgraded skills already in the recent ASBC Asian Boxing Championships in 2019.

The coaches of the national team arranged a general preparation plan for the boxers due to the difficulty of the international planning. Physical trainings are in the focus of their coaches as first phase of their joint preparation. Mr. Nader Jayousi, Mr. Walid Betouni, Mr. Ammar Hdidon, Mr. Majid Abu Hashish and Mr. Hasan Alqam are the coaches of the national team who support the preparation of the boxers in the camp.

Palestine’s lone schoolboy in the training camp is Zaid Shkokani who is only 14 but he has several international experiences from 2019 and could be a future star in the upcoming Asian events. He was only 13 one year ago when he claimed bronze medal at the Kuwait City 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships.

The junior age group is the strongest in Palestine this year, all of their talents have got international bouts during their career which is the result of their strategic developments. Bashar Soufan was in the Top8 at the 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Fujairah and he is still among the junior boxers in 2020. Elbarrio’s ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships competitor Karam Elsaqqa, Jadd Rajab and Waseem Mohamed Abusal are experienced national team members.

Palestine’s 2003 born duo as Abdelrahman Hamza Abunab and Mohammed Maslamani moved up to the youth age group following their junior national titles. Three elite boxers are in the training camp and among them AIBA World Boxing Championships and Asian Games competitor Islam Irshaid is the most experienced.

The Palestinian Boxing Federation is hoping that they can arrange national events after the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic later this year. The Palestinian Boxing Federation together with other martial arts federations arranged online courses to inspire their sport communities during the quarantine period.

Palestine achieved excellent results in the 2019 ASBC events especially at the Kuwait City ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships where the country claimed one bronze medal and won two tough fights. Palestine started to build up their grassroots in the recent two years and their hard work paid off first in Kuwait City and in Fujairah.
