Ovezgulyyev was named as the Best Boxer at the Turkmenistan Junior National Championships

Abdyrahman Ovezgulyyev was named as the best boxer at the Turkmenistan Junior National Championships in Ashgabat.

Boxers who were born in 2009 and 2010 were eligible to participate in the Turkmenistan Junior National Championships which was held in 13 weight categories.

The Secretary General of the Turkmenistan Boxing Federation, Mr. Durdymammet Kuljayev arranged the organizational matters of the Junior National Championships which was the second competition for them in 2025.

Boxers from all regions and cities of Turkmenistan such as Ahal, Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary participated in the Junior National Championships in Ashgabat.

Ashgabat’s Abdyrahman Ovezgulyyev was not only the favourite at the pinweight (46kg) but he accomplished his goal in Ashgabat. The last year’s silver medallist upgraded all of his skills, he defeated Alisher Goshayev in the final and he was named as the Best Technician Boxer of the championships.

Balkan region’s Rakhmanberdi Rejepov had to beat four boxers including Mansur Jorayev at the light flyweight (48kg) to take the title of the Junior Nationals.

Lebap region’s Ibragim Iskenderov won the title of the 44kg weight class in the 2024 Turkmenistan Junior National Championships and he moved up to the flyweight (50kg) within one year. The 16-year-old boxer was unstoppable for Dayanch Orayev and he claimed his second junior national title after 2024.

Hangeldi Lukmanov was only quarter-finalist in 2024 but the Ashgabat-based boxer marched into a gold medal in the new edition. Abdyrasul Arslanov achieved the title of the light bantamweight (52kg) in the 2024 Junior Nationals and following his success over Jeyhun Potbayev, he is now two-time gold medallist in this age group.

Ashgabat’s next ace, Ezbermuhammet Myratdurdyyev earned the title at the featherweight (57kg) after beating Diyar Balliyev of Dashoguz. The Junior Nationals bronze medallist Muhammetemin Begenjov moved up three categories since his 2024 competitions and the lightweight (60kg) boxer defeated Erkin Suhrabov for the title.

Ashgabat’s Abdyrahman Babayev switched his last year’s silver medal into a gold at the light welterweight (63kg) when he triumphed over Sanjar Yakubov. Mary region’s Toyly Bazarov was bronze medallist in the 2024 Turkmenistan Junior National Championships and he claimed the title of the welterweight (66kg) this time.

Boxers from Ashgabat such as Jepbar Orazdurdyyev (70kg), Resul Batyrov (75kg) and Gurbanguly Dovranov (80kg), additionally Kemran Kurbanbayev (+80kg) from Dashoguz controlled the heaviest weight categories.
