Nineteen nations shared the medals at the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships

Altogether 19 nations out of the 23 participating nations claimed at least one medal at the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Colombo, Sri Lanka this month.
Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, French Polynesia, IBA-India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, IBA-Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Vietnam were the 23 participating nations in this championship.
Kazakhstan topped the medal rankings in the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships with their incredible 41 gold medals. Kazakhstan’s youth and U22 talents proved their very best in Colombo and the Central Asian boxing power won more than 80% of the available titles.
Kyrgyzstan became No.2 in the official ranking of the competition with 3 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze medals in Colombo. The number of their 23 medals is record-breaking in Kyrgyzstan’s boxing history which could generate the next boxing boom for the country.
Tajikistan bagged three gold medals, also additionally five silver and eight bronzes in Colombo, continuing their strong progress which began in the recent years. Tajikistan’s Abubakr Ghafurov was named as the Best Male Youth Boxer of the entire championships.
Vietnam sent a huge delegation to Colombo and their 2 gold, 4 silver and 11 bronze medals are another record-breaking performance from the Southeast Asian country which has an outstanding women’s boxing team.
Team of IBA-India achieved 1 gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze medals in the championships with an emerging debut in an ASBC event. The host country of the competition, Sri Lanka earned altogether 23 record-breaking medals and made historic steps for the further developments.
Afghanistan, Thailand, Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and IBA-Pakistan had finalists in the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships. Afghanistan never had three silver medals in any of the previous editions of the Asian Boxing Championships while Pakistan bagged its first silver in an Asian event since 2005.
Nepal, IBA-Iraq, Australia, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and New Zealand claimed bronze medals in Sri Lanka’s capital.
