Nepal’s Gala the Dharan Fight Night was a great show

Nepal arranged the Dharan Fight Night at the weekend which was an amateur-professional competition for young talents.

The event was held in Dharan, which is located in the Sunsari District of Koshi Province, and it has the population of 170,000 people.

The amateur part of the boxing show contained five contests in Dharan including one female bout but all of them delivered excellent fights.

Naxal’s Divya Chemjong Limbu had massive advantage on the judges’ scorecards against Dibika Rai after two rounds of fight and she finished the job in the third. The referee, a former boxer, Anurudha Lama, stopped their unequal contest and confirmed Limbu’s RSC triumph at the women’s minimumweight (48kg).

Nawang Rai won the first schoolboys contest of the fight night, he defeated Abhishek Basnet at the 54kg weight category. Sabhrant Limbu controlled all of the three rounds against Shikhar Rai and won the next schoolboys’ weight class in the exciting event.

Mr. Ashish Limbu was the referee in the next bout which was held between Manish Parajuli and Rajan Rai at the men’s elite featherweight (57kg). Parajuli dictated the tempo in their contest and four out of the five judges favoured him in this outstanding bout.

Nikesh Gurung of CGG Boxing Club prepared well to the Dharan Fight Night and he enjoyed the support of the crowd at the men’s lightweight (60kg) bout. Gurung landed the better shots and he had the advantage on the judges’ scorecards after the first round. The youngster was able to continue the same performance against Ashim Limbu until the last gong and he won the last amateur contest of the Dharan Fight Night.

Funglang Kambang, Singhabir Limbu, Sulav Mali and Samrat Maharjan all won their professional bouts in the later part of the evening.
