National stars soar to Kazakhstan elite finals

Reigning world champion Temirtas Zhussupov and other national team stars zoomed into the finals of the Kazakhstan Elite Men National Championships 2022 in Pavlodar.

After missing out on the ASBC Asian Elite Championships, the 34-year-old Zhussupov returned with a bang as he routed Ryskhan Talip, 5-0, in the minimumweight (48kg) class.

Two-time ASBC Asian youth champion Sagyndyk Togambay trounced Baurzhan Baygonshekov, 5-0, in the cruiserweight (86kg) division.

Asian youth titlists Nursultan Altynbek crushed Karim Serkebayev, 5-0, and arranged a gold medal match against fellow U22 standout Bekzat Aldamzharov in bantamweight (54kg).

ASBC youth champs Sanatali Toltayev and Mukhammedsabyr Bazarbayuly set up a much-anticipated light welterweight (63.5kg) final after eliminating their respective opponents.

Former Asian junior winner Yerassyl Zhakpekov pulverized Bakbolat Abdikerim, 5-0, in light heavyweight while Asian elite silver medalist Daniyal Sabit whipped up a 5-0 beatdown of Kenzhe Muratuly in flyweight (51kg). Asian Boxing Confederation and Kazakhstan Boxing Federation Vice-President Aziz Kozhambetov is overseeing the national championships joined by 199 boxers from various regions.
