Myanmar arranged its first event since the serious earthquake

The Myanmar Boxing Federation arranged its first event since the serious earthquake, which affected the country’s main cities, their boxing training centre and the daily life seriously.

Their next small competition was the Olympic Day Tournament where two of their female and two male boxers claimed titles.

Their recent competition, the 5th edition of the Myanmar National Sports Festival was held in Nay Pyi Taw where four female and five male boxers earned their gold medals a few months ago which was a top event for their boxers.

Myanmar hosted the 2013 Southeast Asian Games which was their best and more important international event in the recent 20 years of boxing.

The developing Myanmar claimed one silver and two bronze medals in the 2022 edition of the Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam. Their team was stronger in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia with six bronze medals in boxing.

Aye Nyein Htoo has strong record in the Southeast Asian Games and she competed already in the 2019 Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament. The minimumweight (48kg) boxer was too experienced for Mya Moe Thu and she won the first final in Myanmar’s new event.

Htar Htar Nwe is also an experienced member of the national team who won gold medals in the National Championships and State Championships therefore she had the skills to win over Kiim Sian Deih Sang at the women’s lightweight (60kg).

Ko Ko Tun won the first male final of the competition, he outpointed Linn Yhoung Kha at the featherweight (57kg). The lightweight (60kg) title was captured by YTC’s Zin Bo who defeated La Min Ko Ko in a manly fight.

The boxers from Myanmar has been preparing to the next edition of the Southeast Asian Games which will be held in Thailand end of this year.
