Muskita’s KO was the highlight of the finals in Jakarta

The Southeast Asian Games winner Maikhel Roberrd Muskita smashed his final opponent and knocked out at Indonesia’s new event, the Menpora Boxing Cup which took place in their busy capital, in Jakarta.

The women boxers could compete in eight different weight classes and among them Merlin Tomatala claimed the first title at the Menpora Boxing Cup. She defeated Jesika Umbas in the final of the women’s minimumweight (48kg) unanimously and she remained on the top of the podium in an Indonesian national event.

Israellah Saweho is a young talent at the women’s light flyweight (50kg) but had the experience to beat Novenvi Estevin Samalang and Rani Balu to take the title. DKI Jakarta’s Novita Sinadia, their next international boxer, lost to Alfianita Kartika Monopo in the final of the bantamweight (54kg) which was a top surprise in the event.

Yuliana Pudi (57kg) and Nabila Maharani (60kg) won difficult weight categories in the Menpora Cup before the ASBC Asian Championships silver medallist Huswatun Hasanah triumphed over Dira Artika at the light welterweight (63kg).

The SEA Games medallist Dio Koebanu is only 21-year-old but he has the experience in the international stage since 2019. The young minimumweight (48kg) boxer destroyed Perneel Tahumil Jr.’s gold medal dreams and his quick footwork guaranteed the title for Koebanu.

Vicky Tahumil Jr. was also a finalist in the Menpora Cup and he succeeded against a boxer from Bali, Krispinus Mariano Wonda at the flyweight (51kg). Flanuari Daud caused the next top surprise in the competition when he defeated the 2017 Southeast Asian Games winner veteran Aldoms Suguro at the bantamweight (54kg).

DKI Jakarta’s Jill Mandagie is another experienced boxer in the national team but he regained his throne at the featherweight (57kg) after a superb performance against Willem Petrus Ray Piris. The Asian Games competitor Asri Udin (60kg) and Elizer Gonzales (63.5kg) won the next two fantastic finals in Jakarta.

Indonesia’s best male boxer, the Southeast Asian Games winner and the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships silver medallist Maikhel Roberrd Muskita amazed in the final of the light heavyweight (80kg). The 24-year-old boxer not only dominated his fight over Frendy Yacop Furay but he knocked out his opponent in the second round.
