Muhammad Farhihin Raqib and Abdul Rahman shined in the Malaysian Junior National Championships

The Malaysian Junior National Boxing Championships featured with together with the elite boxers in the city of Penampang in Sabah province.

Penampang is located near to Kota Kinabalu, it is the capital of the district in the West Coast Division of Sabah State and also the commercial centre of the region.

The 2009 and the 2010 born boxers were eligible to participate in the Junior National Championships and the young talents could participate in ten different weight categories including one female division.

The team from Perak claimed three gold and one silver medal and topped the medal standings in the junior part of the national competition. Boxers from the strong Johor state ranked as runner-ups with their two gold and one silver medal in Penampang.

The Malaysian National Championships involved all of the states and cities in the Southeast Asian country and three different age groups as well. Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid, one of the most experienced Asian International Technical Officials worked in the Malaysian National Championships as the Technical Delegate.

The management of the Malaysian Boxing Federation hosted the event in one female category and Shariffa Farhani Bin Abdullah won that final against Shameena Jimru for the pinweight (46kg) title which was a historic woman contest in the junior age group.

Malaysia’s best junior category is the pinweight (46kg) and eight boxers competed for the medals and prizes in the event. Johor’s Muhammad Farhihin Raqib Bin Mohamed Shaiful won all of his three contests including the final against Muhammad Mukim Al Azym. 

Muhammad Ashriq Ryan achieved Perak’s first gold medal in the junior national event, he outpointed Mohamad Nafzahnizam Bin Razif at the light flyweight (48kg) final. Abdul Rahman Bin Najib won all of his three contests by 4:1 split decisions and he took the next title at the flyweight (50kg).

Johor’s Mohamed Putra Erfhan Bin Nornikman delivered one of the best performances in the Malaysian Junior National Championships, he had a clear success over Youel at the light bantamweight (52kg) final.

Jermine Nathaniel Lee won the tightest final in the entire competition, he succeeded over Mohammad Faizul Bin Nor Mohamed by 3:2 split decision at the bantamweight (54kg). Perak’s Adam Ng Guan Sen (57kg) and Muhammad Mukhriz Al Hafis Bin Mohamed Jale (60kg) were confident in this national event.
