Ms. Shelly Selowati Soejono represented boxing during the Asian Games Torch Relay in Bali

The Asian Games will be starting with its Opening Ceremony and first competition day on August 18 but the Torch Relay of the flame was held in the city of Kuta in Bali. Indonesia’s well-known boxing official Ms. Shelly Selowati H. Soejono was selected as one of the torch bearers during the Relay which means boxing represented the ceremony in the picturesque island of Bali.
Ms. Shelly Selowati H. Soejono was bronze medallist in 200m butterfly swimming and also in the 4x100m medley relay at the Bangkok 1978 Asian Games and following her sports career she has been supporting Indonesia’s boxing life.
She is the only woman Technical Delegate in Indonesia in all sports and the first one in the country’s sport history in this high international position. Ms. Shelly Selowati H. Soejono is the General Secretary of the Indonesian Boxing Federation but she is a well-known boxing official in the international stages. She was the Supervisor of the Guwahati 2017 AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships and also the Ho Chi Minh City 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships.
“I felt really good of course when I have been selected as torch bearer with flames of the upcoming Jakarta 2018 Asian Games. This was a lifetime experience for me and a big personal honor after my decades in the Indonesian sport. For me it showed that the Indonesian government still appreciated us,” said Ms. Shelly Selowati H. Soejono during her stay in Bali where the Torch Relay was taking place before the Asian Games.
