Mr. Svetoslav Sapundjiev worked as ITO at the very first time in an ASBC Asian Boxing Championships, he handled the scoring system in the Tashkent U22 event. He is not only a boxing official but the Secretary General of the Bulgarian Boxing Federation and worked in dozens of big competitions in Europe.

Mr. Svetoslav Sapundjiev shared us his thoughts about the organization and level of the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships. He introduced also the upcoming big event, the Strandja Memorial Tournament which is the biggest international competition in Europe and the most traditional one.

“The ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships are organized on a very high level and it was an amazing experience as it was my first time in Uzbekistan. The local organizers had taken care of every detail and I felt very welcomed during the whole championships.

I saw many new young talents in Tashkent and all of the contests during the semi-finals and finals were quite intense. The most remarkable bout was delivered by Davlat Boltayev from Tajikistan at the men’s heavyweight (92kg). His performance during the finals left everybody speechless. I am also quite astonished by the Uzbek boxers, they finished on the top of the Championships with 16 gold medals.

The Local Organising Committee performed on an exquisite level. They have put a lot of thoughts in every detail during the ceremonies and over all organization. The venue was breathtaking. The setting created an amazing show for the participants and the audience. I was really impressed by the organizations, the safety Covid-19 measurements was excellent therefore I felt much secured.

The venue setting was outstanding, the presentation of the boxers, the LED walls and the lights created quite a professional atmosphere. The city of Tashkent was a nice experience for me as a traveller as I succeed to take a walk around in the city centre and the most remarkable sights.

My next event will be the Strandja Memorial Tournament in my home country in Bulgaria. We are expecting more than 400 boxers from over 30 countries. For the first time, we will host a Golden Belt Event of the World Boxing Tour recently presented by IBA. We will elevate this prestigious event on a new level especially for the finals where we will create a special show,” summarized his experiences about Tashkent Mr. Svetoslav Sapundjiev.
