Mr. Serik Konakbayev congratulates to Mr. Ricky Vargas who has been elected as President of the Philippine Olympic Committee

President of the Asian Boxing Confederation and AIBA Vice-President Mr. Serik Konakbayev and the whole ASBC management congratulates to the President of the Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines Mr. Ricky Vargas who has been elected as President of the Philippine Olympic Committee.
Mr. Ricky Vargas has won the court-ordered election for the Presidency of the Philippine Olympic Committee which was taking place in the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club in Mandaluyong. Mr. Ricky Vargas received 24 votes to Jose Cojuangco’s 15 and dethroned the reigning President who has been in charge since 2005.
The Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines (ABAP) hosted the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Puerto Princesa at the island of Palawan in August 2017 where the Southeast Asian country claimed two gold medals. The Filipino elite athletes also secured two titles in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Philippines will be hosting the next edition of the Southeast Asian Games in 2019 and the country is fully concentrating to arrange that regional multisport event in high quality. The result of the election for the Presidency of the Philippine Olympic Committee could caused big impact also for Philippines’ boxing life in the future.
