Mr. Beg Sabur – The key point of our strategy is to develop the youngest age groups in Tajikistan

Beg Sabur President Tajikistan Boxing Federation

Mr. Beg Sabur is the President of the Tajikistan Boxing Federation who returned to our interview questions and informed us about their current boxing life and developments. Tajikistan achieved medals in the big international events including the Olympic Games, AIBA World Boxing Championships and AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in the recent two decades.
Tajikistan separated from the Soviet Union in 1991 and since 1995 their boxers have been competing in all levels of boxing. Since the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games their boxers missed only the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Mavzuna Chorieva achieved bronze in the London 2012 Olympic Games while Abdusalom Khasanov, Sherali Dostiyev and Anvar Yunusov won also bronze medals in the previous editions of the AIBA World Boxing Championships.

– Could you please introduce your country’s boxing life?
– Tajikistan has got successful history in our beloved combat sport and boxing exists in all of the regions of the country. Tajikistan’s best boxers performed well enough in the international competitions since we can take part in the events as independent country.
Since 1996 until present days we had winners in the Asian Games, ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships and medallists in the Olympic Games, AIBA World Boxing Championships, AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships and AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships as well.

– Would you like to tell us your strategic plans for the future and the key developments in your country?
– The key point of our strategy is to develop the youngest age groups in Tajikistan in a long term to find the best talents in the country. We are focusing to the youth age group in 2018 in shorten term and we will be making all of our efforts to qualify at least one boxer for the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games. Furthermore women’s boxing is important for us after our successes in Tajikistan and we have been promoting the female part of the sport in all regions of the country.

– What are the main strengths and issues in your boxing life?
– Our main advantages are good natural conditions that allow us to develop boxing in the mountainous areas and the excellent fighting spirit and desire of our boxers will help us become the best in boxing. Our main issue is the lack of financial resources to participate in all competitions around the world to raise the experiences of our athletes.
