Mr. Abdullah Al-Antali – “I am impressed here in Bangkok and we have done historical steps to develop UAE’s boxing”

The Team Manager of the United Arab Emirates Mr. Abdullah Al-Antali is proud of his country’s development within such short period of time. Mr. Abdullah Al-Antali replied to Asian Boxing Confederation’s questions in the venue of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships.
“I am so happy that we can compete in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Bangkok with record number of boxers. Thanks for Thailand’s hospitality and great organization in all areas of the event. I am also thanking for ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba for his support and professional team work.
We are here first time with such big delegation which contains female and male boxers as well. In the past our boxers lost in the first round or in the second in many ASBC competitions and other big events. Now I am impressed as our boxers could fight until the end of their contests which is a strong development. We lost the bouts but in totally different way and moved closer to the level of the Asian boxers.
We arrived here with two women boxers which was a historical step from our country following the Hijab was officially approved by the AIBA Executive Committee. We received several calls from the UAE following our boxers competed in Bangkok. We realized that girls want to fight in our country therefore we will trying to do our very best to involve them to the sport.
We started our new strategy and developments in the United Arab Emirates four years ago. I can confirm to you that we recognized strong developments in the number of boxers in the United Arab Emirates from the youngest age group and we have been growing every year. We have already women boxers in the UAE but I am sure more girls will be joining to us to train in our gym.
Our boxers can train with our good coaches in the National Training Centre but we are working on several projects to raise our goals in the upcoming years. We will be hosting the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships this year which is a great step from our National Federation. We prefer to host it in the city of Fujairah where the facilities are excellent and we hosted already international events.
We are flexible to find the best date together with the ASBC management. We are planning to compete at the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Russia and some other important events as well,”
said United Arab Emirates’ boxing official Mr. Abdullah Al-Antali.
