Monkhor and Seesondee are the Asian heroes at the Ulan-Ude 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships on Day4

The fourth day of boxing at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships delivered the next big triumphs for the Asian boxers in Ulan-Ude, Russia. Namuun Monkhor of Mongolia eliminated a seeded European rival while Thailand’s Sudaporn Seesondee has done a revenge and defeated Australia’s Anja Stridsman also at the lightweight (60kg).
Altogether 76 strong Asian elite female boxers are attending in the Ulan-Ude 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships from 13 nations: China, DPR Korea, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Philippines, Tajikistan, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

Chinese Taipei’s Wu Shih Yi opened her campaign with a near success
Following the defending AIBA Women’s World Champion and ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Lin Yu Ting’s success on Day, their young hope Wu Shih Yi also impressed in Ulan-Ude. The 21-year-old boxer was silver medallist at the 2019 ASBC Asian Women’s Elite Boxing Championships and attends also at the lightweight (60kg) in the Russian city. Wu had a few difficulties in the first round against Canada’s Irene Fiolek but she maintained her best fighting distance in time and used her longer reach well to beat the tough North American rival.

Uzbekistan’s next success was delivered by Raykhona Kodirova
Uzbekistan produced its best ever performance in the preliminaries during the history of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. Their lightweight (60kg) boxer Raykhona Kodirova lost her previous fights closely in the big events but this time she was impressed in Ulan-Ude. The 26-year-old Uzbek controlled the first round against Lithuania’s Ana Starovoitova and destroyed her opponent’s defence in the second. Kodirova enjoyed the bout in the third round and celebrated Uzbekistan’s next success in the preliminary stages of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.

Mongolia’s Namuun Monkhor eliminated a seeded boxer
Mongolia AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Namuun Monkhor is 20 now and developed step by step in the international competitions. The Mongolian lightweight (60kg) boxer has been working strongly in her bouts to take the control with pressurizing tactic. Monkhor met in the preliminary stage of the division with Turkey’s Seed No.3 Sema Caliskan in Ulan-Ude which was a hectic fight. The younger Mongolian delivered her very best from the second round and eliminated her favourite rival in the fourth day of boxing.

Thailand’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Chuthamat Raksat, Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships runner-up Nilawan Techasuep, Jutamas Jitpong and Preedakamon Tintabthai all won their first fights in Ulan-Ude. Their fifth boxer in action was New Delhi 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Sudaporn Seesondee who was seeded as No.2 but she had to face with Australia’s Anja Stridsman. The Aussie girl was the Best Woman Boxer at the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament and defeated Seesondee this July but the Thai boxer was able to do revenge this time.

Sholtay and Volosenko made perfect day for Kazakhstan on Day4
Kazakhstan’s Fariza Sholtay is their best light heavyweight (81kg) boxer who started her campaign well enough against Australia’s National Champion newcomer Jessica Bagley. The 24-year-old Sholtay claimed medals in the ASBC events but she had to do her best performance to beat her Australian rival on Day4. Kazakhstan’s second success in the session was done by Rimma Volosenko who had to meet also with a competitive rival, England’s Paige Murney but she managed her triumph easier than she expected.
