Mongolia’s Enkhtur Tegshjargal won the first fight of the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships with high motivation

Following the Opening Ceremony of the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships, the first competition was held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The first bout of the whole competition was won by Mongolia’s Enkhtur Tegshjargal who was strongly motivated against a top Indian rival.

The number of the boxers is 180 and among them 113 are male and 67 are female athletes who came from 16 different countries. The boxers who were born in 2001 or in 2002 are eligible to compete in the ASBC Asian Youth Men and Women Boxing Championships. Altogether 20 female and male champions will be crowned in the ASBC Asian Youth Men and Women Boxing Championships where 10 women and 10 men weight classes are in the official program.

Mongolia’s first success was captured by Enkhtur Tegshjargal
Mongolia’s strong Enkhtur Tegshjargal had to meet with India’s Pardeep in the preliminary round of the men’s bantamweight (56kg) which was the first contest of the whole ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Ring A. The Mongolian boxer started the bout better and he looked motivated from the first seconds and tried to land punches against the younger Indian. Tegshjargal was more experienced than his Indian rival and he felt the tempo better in their bout achieving the first success of the host nation.

Kazakhstan’s Makhmud Sabyrkhan proved his world class level
Kazakhstan’s AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Makhmud Sabyrkhan had to box with Mongolia’s Altantulga Bayarsaikhan at the flyweight (52kg) in the first bout of Ring B. The 18-year-old Kazakh is the main gold medal contender of the category who found his best fighting range in the first minute and moved ahead more than his Mongolian opponent. Sabyrkhan was a hard target for the Mongolian and he changed his stance several times in the second round to find the best angles. The Kazakh boxer controlled all of the rounds and enjoyed the bout against the tough Mongolian who did not find the best weapon against Sabyrkhan.

Kazakhstan’s second success was achieved by Biybars Zheksen
Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Biybars Zheksen was involved to the youth national team in 2018 when he performed also strongly at the age of 17. The Kazakh bantamweight (56kg) boxer was dominant in the first round against Turkmenistan’s Youth National Champion Yunus Shamsiyev. Zheksen used his longer reach well in the second round and controlled that period as well over his neighbouring rival in Ulaanbaatar. The 18-year-old Kazakh delivered also a sensational performance as his teammate Sabyrkhan and advanced to the quarter-finals in Ulaanbaatar.

Japan’s Reito Tsutsumi found his rhythm in time to beat his Kyrgyz opponent
Japan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion star Reito Tsutsumi is unbeaten this year but his first opponent was also a well-experienced one, Kyrgyzstan’s Aidar Oroskulov at the men’s lightweight (60kg). The younger Japanese was smaller and tried to reduce the fighting range in their contest but he was not enough shape in the first round. Tsutsumi started the third round with a quick jab which shocked the experiences Kyrgyz boxer who was not able to continue his previous level. Tsutsumi’s best round was the third when he landed high number of uppercuts which were enough to eliminate Oroskulov in a top contest.

Uzbekistan’s Rakhmatullo Toshpulatov had a tough fight against an inexperienced Chinese on Day1
Uzbekistan’s Rakhmatullo Toshpulatov claimed silver medal in the Puerto Princesa 2017 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships but since then he proved tough developments. The Uzbek used his longer reach in his opening bout against China’s Qian Jiahao which was an important challenge at the lightweight (60kg) on Day1. The Chinese southpaw was patient nad waited for the best attacking moments and tried to pressurize Toshpulatov who looked technically better today. The final verdict was split decision in the favour of the Uzbek boxer who advanced to the last eight in Ulaanbaatar.
