Milestone in Asia’s women’s boxing life – United Arab Emirates will send two women boxers to the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships

Following Bahrain confirmed its historical participation with one female boxer in the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships, United Arab Emirates registered two women athletes to the upcoming Bangkok event. United Arab Emirates never sent any women boxers to any international events yet which will be their historical participation and an important milestone for the continent’s female boxing life.
ASBC President and AIBA Vice-President Mr. Anas Alotaiba supported the Gender Equality Program in the recent months which was one of his key parts of his long-term strategy. Mr. Anas Alotaiba worked to be approved the Hijab for the women boxers of the Arabic countries since he was elected as ASBC President. The official approval of Hijab was confirmed in the recent AIBA Executive Committee meeting in Istanbul last February.
Mr. Mohamed Al-Shebli attended at the 2008 Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament, at the Pan Arab Games, at the Gulf Countries Tournament and many other international events as a boxer. Following his strong international experiences he supports the boxing team of the United Arab Emirates as a national coach and he is working without any stoppage to develop the woman part of the sport in the country.
United Arab Emirates’ female hope Fahima Alfaqee trains in the city of Dubai and will be attending at the women’s flyweight (51kg) in Bangkok. Her younger teammate, UAE’s lightweight (60kg) No.1 Hanan Alzeyoudi turned to 24 earlier this month and will be representing the city of Sharjah in the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships.
The United Arab Emirates’ delegation contains still four male boxers: Gulf Countries Tournament silver medallist Saab Mazher Alsadid (52kg), Majid Alnaqbi (56kg), Muhsin Saad Ahmad Obaid (60kg) and Hazzaa Aljallaf (64kg). The ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships will be starting after the ASBC General Assembly with its first competition day on April 18.
