Malaysia will host its National Championships from July 13
The Malaysian National Boxing Championships will be held in the city of Penampang in Sabah province between July 13 and 19.
Penampang is located near to Kota Kinabalu, it is the capital of the district in the West Coast Division of Sabah State and also the commercial centre of the region.
The Malaysian Boxing Federation hosted its Golden Gloves Tournament on May and their next activity is the National Boxing Championships.
The Malaysian National Championships includes all states and cities in the Southeast Asian country and three different age groups as well.
Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid, one of the most experienced Asian International Technical Officials will work in the Malaysian National Championships as the Technical Delegate.
The National Championships will take place for the elite women boxers as well which is one of the main targets for the Malaysian Boxing Federation to develop the female part of the sport in the country.
The main highlight of the Malaysian National Championships will feature for the elite men boxers in Penampang where they can box from the minimumweight up to the heavyweight.
Boxers from the 2009 and 2010 age groups will be able to compete in the junior part of the National Championships. The youngest talents from the 2011 and the 2012 age groups can participate in the schoolboys competition of the Nationals.
The event supports the local boxers from all states in Malaysia to increase their experience and meet each other after the Golden Gloves Tournament.
The Malaysians will use the National Championships as one of the selection competitions for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games which will be held in Thailand this December.
Malaysia will host the so-called Sukma, the National Games for the U22 boxers in 2026 and for the young talents, the upcoming National Championships is important in the preparation for that multisport event.
