Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia shared the ten titles at the 35th Penang Pesta Tournament

Penang’s best hope Pavithran Rajini Kanth, and further Malaysian national team members as Mohamad Rizal Bin Wahibi and Muhammad Ariff Aiman Bin Mohamed Faris earned titles at the 35th Penang Pesta International Tournament.

Two of the strong regional nations, Indonesia and Singapore also achieved gold medals in the Penang Pesta International Tournament in Malaysia.

The Penang Amateur Boxing Association was established in 1951 and their staff has been organizing the Penang Pesta Tournament since 1989.

Boxers from the U22 age group were eligible to participate in the event which meant the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 born pugilists could test themselves in Penang.

The island of Penang is one of the boxing capitals in Malaysia, the region hosted several national competition and international events in the last decade.

Muhammad Mukriz Khan Bin Muzafar Khan achieved the first title for Penang, the youngster defeated Singapore’s Muhammad Nasim Bin Mohamed Madani at the minimumweight (48kg) final.

Malaysia’s and Penang’s pride, Pavithran Rajini Kanth won all of his national events in the recent years and he defeated Indonesia’s Anas Risky Syahputra at the men’s flyweight (51kg) semi-final. He continued his winning path against Chinese Taipei’s Hsu Yan Wen and the young talent achieved his next gold medal in an important event.

Mohamad Rizal Bin Wahibi is member of the Malaysian national team and his international experiences paid off against Muhammad Irfan Adli Bin Damili. Another Malaysian future hope from the national squad, Muhammad Ariff Aiman Bin Mohamed Faris defeated Singapore’s Wong Chung Yao and he won the light middleweight (71kg).

Indonesia’s Andreas Moa Erik has professional contests already and he demonstrated his power in the final stages of the featherweight (57kg) against Singapore’s Joseph Nikhil James and Syafi Syamil Bin Ahmad Faizal as well to earn his nation’s lone title in Penang.

Singapore’s two boxers, Jason Huigen Rongwei and Nur Muhammad Maatin Abdul Gaffar were crowned at the lightweight (60kg) and at the middleweight (75kg) in the island of Penang. The first stopped his Malaysian final opponent, but Abdul Gaffar had to do his very best against Chinese Taipei’s Huang Tai Wei.

Louis Bin Saulus made the next remarkable performance at the light welterweight (63.5kg) final stopping his opponent while Nur Ikmal Ramadan Bin Sakila (92kg) won the last title of the Penang Pesta Tournament.
