Lazizbek Mullojonov could be the king of the super heavyweight at the Zolotarev Memorial Tournament

The semi-finals were held in the Valentin Zolotarev Memorial Tournament in Andizhan, Uzbekistan where the elite male boxers can attend in the prestigious competition. ASBC Asian Junior and ASBC Asian Youth Champions advanced to the finals including the super heavyweight (+91kg) star Lazizbek Mullojonov.

The Valentin Zolotarev Memorial Tournament is a traditional elite competition in Uzbekistan and always holds in the city of Andizhan which is located in the Ferghana Valley. The last 2019 edition of the Zolotarev Memorial Tournament was an international event but due to the Covid-19 pandemic the new competition is national level.

The city of Andizhan is famous of its boxing schools, many of the Uzbek stars started their careers in those gyms and clubs. Altogether 139 elite male boxers are attending in the new edition of the Valentin Zolotarev Memorial Tournament in Andizhan where 10 champions will be crowned from the light flyweight (49kg) up to the super heavyweight (+91kg).

Two boxers from Ferghana as Shodiyor Melikuziev and Abdujamshid Mannopov advanced to the finals of the light flyweight (49kg) in Andizhan. Pavlyukov Youth Memorial Tournament winner 18-year-old Shakhzod Muzaffarov eliminated Tashkent region’s Doston Khodjayev in the semi-finals and will be meeting for the gold medal of the flyweight (52kg) with Samandar Yusupov who had a tough fight against Sadirbek Kamolmirzayev.

The dream final has realized in the bantamweight (56kg) where ASBC Asian Youth Champion Samandar Kholmurodov will be facing for the gold medal with 19-year-old Khurshidbek Rasuljonov who earned silver medal in Ulaanbaatar one year ago. Uzbekistan’s top talent Youth Olympic Games winner Abdumalik Khalakov had a small injury therefore the Sirodjiddin Ismoilov and teenage talent Aydos Tagaybayev will be boxing for the gold of the lightweight (60kg) in Andizhan.

Pavlyukov Youth Memorial Tournament winner 19-year-old Asadkhudja Muydinkhodjayev defeated two-years-older Murodjon Aliyev in the semi-finals and will now meeting for the title with Mujibullo Tursunov who eliminated Halimbek Utegenov. ASBC Asian Junior Champion Javlonbek Yuldashev is aiming for the title for the welterweight (69kg) and his last step will be held against Sadimboy Nasriddinov in the final.

Saidjamshid Jafarov had excellent junior and youth results between 2014 and 2017 and he needed three years to do breakthrough among the elite boxers. The 21-year-old boxer advanced to the final of the middleweight (75kg) and will be meeting with a dangerous young rival Temurbek Sadullayev for the gold. Bukhara’s ASBC Asian Youth Champion Sukhrobjon Kayimov remained his chance alive to win the gold medal of the light heavyweight (81kg). ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Javokhir Togaymurodov is only 20 but he proved tough performance in the semi-finals of the heavyweight (91kg). ASBC Asian Youth Champion Lazizbek Mullojonov and Jamshidbek Hudayberganov are the finalists of the super heavyweight (+91kg) as expected.
