Khodzhiyev, Lozano and Nishonov won the top finals in Bishkek

Anvarzhan Khodzhiyev, Rafael Lozano and Ikhtiyor Nishonov won the top finals at the Duisenkul Shopokov Memorial Tournament in the Kozhomkul Sports Palace in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are continuous nations in the Duisenkul Shopokov Memorial Tournament. Two strong European nations such as Germany and Spain joined them this time to participate in the Central Asian boxing event.
The event was named after Mr. Duisenkul Shopokov, the Kyrgyz hero of the Soviet Union who died during the Great Patriotic War at the Battle of Moscow in December 1941.
Uzbekistan’s Khusanboy Mirsaidov claimed the first title in the Shopokov Memorial, he controlled all of the three rounds against Kyrgyzstan’s Yerzhigit Anarbek Uulu at the minimumweight (48kg) final.
Kyrgyzstan’s Anvarzhan Khodzhiyev defended his throne at the Shopokov Memorial, the multiple international event winner triumphed over Spain’s 2022 European Champion Martin Molina at the flyweight (51kg) final using his speed advantage.
Spain’s promising Rafael Lozano defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Nurzhigit Dyushebayev at the bantamweight (54kg) final. Ricardo Adrian Fresneda, who had a successful mission against Kyrgyzstan’s veteran Erkin Adylbek Uulu, achieved his nation’s second gold medal.
Rysbek Bektenov and Mirzokhid Imamnazarov both claimed bronze medals at the 2024 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and the duo reached the top of the podium in Bishkek as well. Bektenov stopped Turgunbek Imankadyrov while Imamnazarov defeated a strong Russian, Magomed Shamsayev at the light welterweight (63.5kg).
Askatbek Chomonov was member of the Kyrgyz youth national team in 2022 and in 2023 as well and he moved up several weight categories since those years. Chomonov shocked the 2022 ASBC Asian Youth Champion Almaz Orozbekov and the ringside doctor stopped the welterweight (67kg) final.
Kyrgyzstan’s Ikhtiyor Nishonov started the year with tournament victories and he succeeded once again in a major event, the 21-year-old defeated Uzbekistan’s Asilbek Abdurakhmanov at the light middleweight (71kg) final.
Kyrgyzstan’s Nuradin Rustambek Uulu (75kg) and Omurbek Bekzhigit Uulu (80kg) both won medals in the ASBC Asian Boxing Championships in the recent years. The Kyrgyz duo claimed gold medals also at the Shopokov Memorial but they had to do their very best until the last gong to beat Sergey Sergeyev and Sagyn Satybaldy Uulu.
Bakyt Toktosun Uulu (92kg) and the teenage talent at the super heavyweight (+92kg), Myrzakir Koshaliyev both exceeded their previous levels of boxing and defeated Russian boxers to take the titles in Bishkek.
