Kenzhe Muratuly and Ruslan Kuzeubayev were the top winners at the Galym Zharylgapov Memorial Tournament

The male finals of the Galym Zharylgapov Memorial Tournament saw two young stars as Kenzhe Muratuly and Ruslan Kuzeubayev to shine in the city of Karagandy.
Karagandy, or previously known as Karaganda, is one of the most important cities in Kazakhstan, it is located 230km southeast of the capital, Astana.
Altogether 145 male boxers competed for the titles in the Galym Zharylgapov Memorial Tournament, which was one of the last events of the year.
Almaty region’s international boxer, Damir Abdikadyr had the experience to beat an Asian U22 medallist, Yernar Karap in the first male final of the competition.
Almaty region’s next success was achieved by the 22-year-old Kenzhe Muratuly who controlled all of his contests in Karagandy. The Asian U22 Champion defeated an experienced opponent for the title, Askhat Zhussupov and he delivered one of the best performances in the Zharylgapov Memorial.
Ruslan Kuzeubayev bagged his first Asian medal as a junior boxer in Fujairah six years ago and he had the next top performance in Karagandy after Muratuly. The 22-year-old talent had the best tactical weapon to beat a World Championship competitor, Talgat Syrymbetov in the final of the lightweight (60kg).
Dzhambul region’s Galymzhan Yermekbayev had a tight success over Shymkent’s Arkhat Turgynbek in the next final, while a local pugilist, Raimbek Asylbekov stopped Ablai Sman of Almaty to take the title of the light middleweight.
China’s Xinjiang region sent boxers to the Galym Zharylgapov Memorial Tournament and their Yideresi had the strong performance to stop Almaty’s Nurtileu Aliakbarov at the middleweight (75kg) final contest.
Astana’s promising hope, Bakbergen Aliaskarov was too smart for China’s Shuo Zhennan at the light heavyweight (80kg) final, before Beknur Batyrbek won his title contest over Serzhan Yerkin by a referee stoppage.
Karagandy region’s Nurzhan Duman was member of the youth national team and he was too strong for all of his rivals at the heavyweight. Almaty’s Yersultan Sapar landed powerful punches already in the first round of the super heavyweight final and his opponent, Ramzan Seitov, abandoned their bout.
