Kazakhstan will send the best line-ups to the Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships

Kazakhstan selected its best possible line-ups to the upcoming IBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships which will start in Tashkent on May 1. Among their 13 boxers there are champions and medallists from the previous Olympic, World and Asian Championships.

Kazakhstan earned two gold and two silver medals in the last edition of the Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships in Belgrade. Their team composition has the potential to repeat that performance in Tashkent as well where the Cubans, the Uzbeks, the Russians and the Indians could be their main rivals.

Saken Bibossynov earned a gold medal in the last edition but he lost the flyweight (51kg) final to Hasanboy Dusmatov in Amman last November therefore he is planning to do a revenge. Makhmud Sabyrkhan (54kg) and Serik Temirzhanov (57kg) both were silver medallists in Belgrade one and half year ago.

ASBC Asian Champion Sanzhar Tashkenbay won four big titles in the recent two years and the young talent has the potential to win the minimumweight (48kg) in Tashkent. Nurbek Oralbay (80kg) and his twin brother, the ASBC Asian Champion Aibek (92kg) will be turning to 23 soon but both are experienced from the main championships.

Aslanbek Shymbergenov is the defending ASBC Asian Champion at the light middleweight (71kg) and he is aiming for a gold in Tashkent as well. The Tokyo Olympic Games bronze medallist Kamshybek Kunkabayev is a silver boy at the super heavyweight (+92kg), he was finalists in several big championships between 2017 and 2022.

Former ASBC Asian Youth Champion Sanatali Toltayev (63.5kg), silver medallist from Amman, Dulat Bekbauov (67kg), Nurkanat Raiys (75kg), Sagyndyk Toganbay (86kg) are also selected to participate in Tashkent. The 22-year-old Talgat Syrymbetov is a newcomer in the team, he will represent Kazakhstan at the lightweight (60kg).
