Kazakhstan was the Best Team in the men’s competition of the 61st Belgrade Winner Tournament

The 61st edition of the Belgrade Winner Tournament was featured in the Serbian capital in the previous five days and Team Kazakhstan earned four gold medals at the Aleksandar Nikolic Sport Hall.

Altogether 16 countries sent 35 women and 93 men boxers to the 61st Belgrade Winner Tournament which is a traditional elite competition in Serbia’s heart. Among the boxing powers, Russia, Spain, France, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Serbia, Montenegro, Armenia, Croatia and Belgium sent teams to Belgrade.

Bangladesh’s US-based Zinnat Ferdous earned a bronze medal at the women’s light flyweight (50kg) while Kazakhstan became the best men’s team in Belgrade. The Kazakhs achieved four gold and also four silver medals in the men’s part of the Belgrade Winner Tournament.

Kairat Yernur achieved Kazakhstan’s first gold medal at the minimumweight (48kg), he had a successful strategy against Serbia’s Rade Joksimovic in the final.

Kazakhstan’s World and Asian Champion Sanzhar Tashkenbay had a hard battle against Spain’s Rafael Lozano Serrano and after that he had an easier final to take the gold medal at the men’s flyweight (51kg). Serbia’s Omer Ametovic was a small opponent for Tashkenbay who worked from his safest long distance to beat the local boy.

Kazakhstan’s third-in-a-row title was taken by Daulet Moldashev at the bantamweight (54kg) where he had a difficult tactical final against Hungary’s Gabor Virban. The final verdict was 3:2 split decision in the favour of the Kazakh boxer in Belgrade.

Kazakhstan’s Youth World Championships bronze medallist Dias Molzhigitov defeated three rivals at the middleweight (75kg) and bagged his nation’s fourth gold medal. The 21-year-old boxer defeated Russia’s World silver medallist Dzhambulat Bizhamov and Serbia’s strong puncher, Almir Memic in this competition.

Kazakhstan’s 2021 Youth World Champion Sabyrzhan Akkalykov lost to Sergei Koldenkov of Russia but the verdict could go his side as well after this tight light middleweight (71kg) final in Belgrade.

Another Youth World medallist, Yerassyl Zhakpekov also claimed a silver medal in the Belgrade Winner Tournament, following his victories over experienced rivals, he lost to Croatia’s European Games silver medallist Gabrijel Veocic at the light heavyweight (80kg).

Kazakhstan’s heavyweight (92kg) boxer Daniyar Rakhimberdinov was not enough shape against Ramazan Dadayev of Russia in their final bout. The veteran Olzhas Bukayev was near to beat Serbia’s Vladan Babic at the super heavyweight (+92kg) but his silver medal is a great return to the sport.
