Kazakhstan earned record number of 41 gold medals in Colombo

Kazakhstan topped the medal rankings and the team standings in both age groups and genders at the recent ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships which featured in 11 competition days in Colombo, Sri Lanka.  

Kazakhstan made an incredible run in the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships with their 41 gold medals in the event. Their team achieved 6 further silver medals and 1 bronze in the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Sri Lanka’s capital city.

Only two of their boxers did not earn any medals in Colombo and this result in record-breaking in Kazakhstan’s bright boxing history.

Among the youth boxers, their girls claimed all of the 12 available gold medals while the boys bagged 10 titles, 1 silver and 1 bronze in Colombo. Besides to Kazakhstan, only Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan were able to earn gold medals in the youth age group.

Nine of the Kazakh girls have finally succeeded in the U22 female finals and ten of their boys in that age group celebrated gold medals in Colombo. Three further female boxers and two U22 boys bagged silver medals in the exciting championships in Sri Lanka.

The multiple Asian Champion Alina Kudaigenova was named as the Best Female Youth Boxer of the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Colombo. A former Youth World Champion from Kazakhstan, Elina Bazarova was announced as the Best Female U22 Boxers of the recent championships.

Several of the Kazakhs such as Tolganay Kassymkhan, Alina Kudaigenova, Elina Bazarova, Viktoriya Baidukova, Anar Tursynbek, Aruzhan Zhangabayeva, Uldana Taubay, Bakyt Seidish, Shugyla Nalibay, Bakhtiyar Anarbayev, Aldiyar Bakhadur, Beksultan Kairatuly and others celebrated their next Asian titles in Colombo.
