Karap, Duisebay and Zhakpekov were the top winners in Semey

The Abay Region Akim Prizes Cup was the next international event in Kazakhstan where Yernar Karap, Darkhan Duisebay and Yerassyl Zhakpekov were the top winners.

The competition was held in the city of Semey which is formerly known as Semipalatinsk and it is located in the Abay region in East Kazakhstan.

Altogether 76 elite male boxers from five countries including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan and Australia competed in the five-days long competition.

A local boxer, an ASBC U22 medallist, Yernar Karap won the first title of the entire competition, he controlled all of the three rounds against Askhat Zhusupov in the smallest weight class of the competition.

Almaty’s Zhandaulet Sarsenbayev delivered a surprise success over the ASBC Asian U22 Champion Kenzhe Muratuly winning their final by 4:1 split decision. Two boxers from the Abay region such as Daulet Moldashev and Yerassyl Amangaliyev joined the final of the lightweight (60kg) and the first won their emerging contest.

Zhandos Kydyraliev is an experienced boxer who competed several international competitions in the recent years and he returned in Semey with top performance to beat the former ASBC Asian Junior Champion Yerassyl Yermek in the next final.

The former ASBC Asian Youth Champion Darkhan Duisebay from the Almaty region did not underestimate Astana’s Nurkadam Abdresh in the light middleweight final and he won all of the three rounds in each scorecard.

Farukh Tokhtasunov walked over to the middleweight (75kg) title due his teammate, Nurbol Mukhametali was unable to box in the final. The ASBC Asian U22 Champion Yerassyl Zhakpekov shocked Almaty’s Sayat Ashimov in the opener and he secured the title of the light heavyweight (80kg) against Astana’s Bakbergen Aliaskarov.

Ilyar Ashirov, a former junior and youth national member, had a tight success against Shymkent’s Dauren Mamyr, while the Karagandy region’s Nurmagomed Yusupov won his next tournament at the heavyweight.

Daniyar Rakhimberdinov moved up to the super heavyweight but his efforts were paid off against his teammate, a younger talent from the city of Almaty, Ivan Yermolenko and he won the last bout of the event unanimously.
