Kalaseeram, Kadyrov and Singh delighted the evening session in Astana

The second session had impressive contests at the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Iran’s Reza Fazli Sani found the best fighting distance against United Arab Emirates’ Bader Al-Sedrani in the first round but his opponent had also nice hooks in their opener. The Iranian featherweight (57kg) boxer launched multiple combinations in the second round but Al-Sedrani survived the dangerous moments and he was able to box until the very end.

Jordan’s Qais Eshish used his footwork to keep the best distance against Singapore’s Abdul Wafi Bin Idris and his speed was decisive in their featherweight (57kg) contest. Kyrgyzstan’s Nurbolot Sultanov and Turkmenistan’s Mekan Sabyrov made the show in this weight class during the evening session and the first won the bout by unanimous decision.

Philippines’ John Steven Demaisip caught South Korea’s Lee Dong Hyeon near to the canvas in the middle of the first round and he had the advantage on the judges’ scorecards. The Filipino lightweight (60kg) boxer calmed down in the second round and he was more punctual in the counter-attacks to win their preliminary battle.

Thailand’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Thanaphansakon Kalaseeram had a few difficulties in the first round against China’s Xinjiang-based Mai Erlian Yesihati but he switched into a higher tempo in the second. Kalaseeram had effective hooks and jabs in the third round therefore the Thai lightweight (60kg) boxer secured his place in the last eight.

Kazakhstan’s Aleksey Khavantsev arrived from the Karagandy region and he had the strong motivation to show his power in the front of the home crowd. The Kazakh lightweight (60kg) boxer knocked down his opponent from Bhutan, and he finished the job just before the end of the first round.

India’s Yashwardhan Singh was awarded the Best Boxer Trophy at the 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships in Kuwait City. The 18-year-old boxer was smaller than Iraq’s Mohammed Waleed Al-Mhanawi but he had the speed, the strength and the routine to keep the control from longer distance.

Uzbekistan’s outstanding Abdullokh Tokhirov was not only smarter than Mongolia’s Dagvadorj Javkhlantugs but he had the strength to won this preliminary bout by RSC. Another favourite at the light welterweight (63.5kg), Kazakhstan’s Akhmet Ussen also stopped his opponent from Turkmenistan, Mergen Hojamammedov.

Tajikistan’s Ruslan Gafurov is one of their top youth boxers who claimed his first ASBC achievement as a schoolboy still back in 2019. The Tajik light welterweight (63.5kg) boxer turned up the heat from the second round against Kyrgyzstan’s Bektur Turdubayev and he was able to turn back their contest in Astana.

Turkmenistan’s Dayanch Durdynepesov was their first historic Asian Junior Champion a few months ago but he could not repeat that performance today. He is a newcomer in the youth age group and Kyrgyzstan’s Ramazan Kadyrov was still too strong for the 16-year-old youngster in their welterweight (67kg) meeting.

There was only one youth female contest in the first competition day in Astana where South Korea’s Park Ah Hyun surprised China’s Xinjiang-based Mubalake Rehemanjiang in the opening round of their featherweight (57kg) contest. The Korean southpaw had a fantastic finish in this meeting and she won the last bout of the day.
