Juntrong, Zhao and Kwangu Langu were the bests at the Belt & Road China-Asean Boxing Championships in Nanning City

The first historical edition of the Belt & Road China-Asean Boxing Championships took place in Nanning City in Guangxi, China in the recent days. Thailand’s Asian Games bronze medallist Rujakran Juntrong, China’s teenage talent Zhao Renxue and Indonesia’s experienced Kornelis Kwangu Langu were also among the gold medallists in Nanning City.
Host China, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand attended in the Belt & Road China-Asean Boxing Championships in Nanning City. The competition was held to promote boxing in the ASEAN region and give chance to the area’s women and men elite boxers to raise their international experiences.
The women boxers could take part in two weight classes at the flyweight (51kg) and at the lightweight (60kg) in Nanning City. The men athletes competed in six categories from the light flyweight (49kg) up to the welterweight (69kg) at the 1st Belt & Road China-Asean Boxing Championships.
The first gold medal of the Belt & Road China-Asean Boxing Championships was achieved by Indonesia’s Aldriani Beatrichx Suguro who is member of the national team since 2012 and attended high number of AIBA and ASBC events including the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games. The Indonesian flyweight (51kg) boxer was impressed in the competition and dominated her final against Singapore’s Danisha Dio Mathialagan.
Gan Yuanmei attended only in the recent editions of the Chinese Youth and Elite Women’s National Championships and the Belt & Road China-Asean Boxing Championships was her first ever international competition. In spite of her lack of experiences the 21-year-old talent defeated Thailand’s FISU University World Champion Ratchadaporn Saoto in the final of the women’s lightweight (60kg).
China’s next gold medal was taken by Zhao Renxue who claimed bronze at the Bangkok 2018 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships and the 18-year-old talent won the men’s light flyweight (49kg) after beating Philippines’ Kit Ceron Garces. China’s second gold medal in the men’s part of the competition was won by newcomer Jiang Fujie who had a narrow triumph over Indonesia’s Bali-based Gregorius Gheda Dende in the final of the light welterweight (64kg).
Thailand’s Asian Games competitor Wuttichai Yurachai moved back to his best category to the flyweight (52kg) and defeated China’s Chen Tao in the final which was one of the most spectacular fights in Nanning City. Thailand’s second title in the event was achieved by Asian Games bronze medallist Rujakran Juntrong who defeated China’s Zeng Fanchi in the final of the lightweight (60kg) while the main favourite Philippines’ former ASBC Asian Youth Champion James Palicte took only bronze medal in the competition.
Indonesia’s Kornelis Kwangu Langu is member of the national team since 2013 but it was the very first time when he attended at the bantamweight (56kg). The 28-year-old experienced Indonesian triumphed over China’s Chen Jianheng in the final proving that he is still enough strong to win international competitions.
Philippines’ Joel Bacho attended in international competitions in Russia, in India, in Thailand and in Indonesia this year and following those experiences he competed at the Belt & Road China-Asean Boxing Championships in China. The Filipino welterweight (69kg) boxer impressed against Thailand’s Yuttapong Seekadon in the final and won the last title of the competition in Nanning City.
