Jordan’s first success achieved by Hussein Iashaish at the Tokyo Olympic Games on Day4

The Asian boxers produced another strong day at the boxing tournament of the Tokyo Olympic Games today. Jordan earned its first success after four defeats in the Olympic Games, their Hussein Iashaish eliminated a favourite rival.

Boxers at the women’s lightweight (60kg), women’s welterweight (69kg), men’s welterweight (69kg) and men’s heavyweight (91kg) were in action in the fourth competition day of the Tokyo Olympic Games. The winners of the women’s welterweight (69kg) and at the men’s heavyweight (91kg) advance to the quarter-finals in Tokyo.  

Altogether 70 Asian boxers including 26 women and 44 men are able to represent their nations in the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games. The final number of the boxers is 289 in the Games where thirteen champions will be crowned in Tokyo.

Uzbekistan’s Bobo-Usmon Baturov won the first Asian bout on Day4

Uzbekistan’s two-time ASBC Asian Champion and Asian Games winner Bobo-Usmon Baturov expected a hard battle against Dominican Republic’s Rohan Polanco therefore he kept his concentration until the final gong. The Uzbek welterweight (69kg) boxer used his technical skills to find the best angles in the first round and took the lead on the scorecards. Baturov’s opponent returned to the contest in the second and surprised the Uzbek star with his great combinations. Baturov was able to re-new his tactic in the beginning of the third round and decided the rough contest which means he advanced to the quarter-finals.

Thailand’s Sudaporn Seesondee was perfect in her debuting contest

Thailand’s national team impressed in the opening sessions despite of their top boxer, Thitisan Panmod injured just before the start. The AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Thai lightweight (60kg) boxer had a good draw as she had to meet with Ecuador’s Jose Maria Palacios. Her South American opponent was not able to find the best fighting distance against the smart Seesondee who used all of her experiences to control their contest. Seesondee was fantastic in the third round and proved that she is a medal favourite in her first Olympic Games.

India’s Lovlina Borgohain eliminated a veteran rival

The Indian boxers had several difficulties in the first three competition days at the Tokyo Olympic Games and many of their high hopes lost their contests. Two-time AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain expected a tough battle against Germany’s veteran Nadine Apetz. Her German rival claimed also two bronze medals in the history of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and she landed good jabs in the first round. Borgohain used her height better in the second and third rounds therefore she can continue her campaign in the quarter-finals.

Chen Nien Chin also defeated a good European opponent

Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yu Ting suffered a surprise loss in the third competition day but their team has got still two AIBA Women’s World Champions in Tokyo. Their next star in action was Chen Nien Chin who had to meet with Italy’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Angela Carini. The 23-year-old Italian knows many things about boxing but she had such a world class rival as Chen Nien Chin. Chinese Taipei’s hero competed in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games at the age of 19 and those experiences paid off in their tough preliminary bout.

Jordan’s Hussein Iashaish achieved the first success of the country in Tokyo

Jordan qualified five boxers to the Tokyo Olympic Games which is a strong record in their boxing history. Mohammed Abdelaziz Al-Wadi, Obada Al-Kasbeh and Odai Riyad Al-Hindawi lost their preliminary contests and surprisingly their welterweight (69kg) star Zeyad Eshaish was also beaten by a Mauritian opponent today. Their fifth and last hope Hussein Iashaish was quarter-finalist at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and he marched to the last eight in Tokyo as well. Jordan’s heavyweight (91kg) pride exceeded the expectations and eliminated Ecuador’s AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist Julio Cesar Castillo.

Chinese Taipei’s Wu Shih Yi eliminated Sweden’s Alexiusson in a key contest

Chinese Taipei’s Wu Shih Yi claimed silver medal at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships at the age of 21. Chinese Taipei’s lightweight (60kg) talent is a smart boxer who has got nice style of boxing and she has done her very best in her opening contest in Tokyo. Wu met with a similar opponent, Sweden’s Agnes Alexiusson and both boxers arranged beautiful and clear boxing. Chinese Taipei’s young pride was better in that game and she took the control in the first and second rounds. Alexiusson moved ahead more in the third and she performed well enough in the last three minutes but Wu won their contest.
