Japan’s duo Reito Tsutsumi and Daiya Kira were the Asian stars of Day3 at the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships

The third competition day of the new edition of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships saw a marathon program with more than 50 contests. Japan’s duo as Daiya Kira and Reito Tsutsumi impressed in the third competition day, both dominated their fights in the Polish city.

Many of the Asian National Federations worked hard to give chances to their youth boxers to compete in the international stage again including the big powers and several developing nations. Boxers who were born in 2002 and in 2003 are eligible to attend in the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Kielce which is the first ever global event in Poland.

Kyrgyzstan achieved its first success in the second competition day and their Zhakshylyk Tilek Uulu had to step into action in the first contest of Day3. The Kyrgyz flyweight (52kg) boxer felt the rhythm better than Nicaragua’s Nelson Guerrero and he has done great job in the first and second rounds. Tilek Uulu overcame the Central American in the attacks and despite of his exhausting moments in the third round, the Kyrgyz talent was able to advance to the quarter-finals in Kielce.

Uzbekistan’s and Kazakhstan’s all boxers won their contests in the opening two competition days of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships. Uzbekistan’s Shakhzod Muzaffarov had to meet with a Kazakh Youth National Champion, Kenzhe Muratuly in the last 16 of the flyweight (52kg). The Pavlyukov Youth Memorial Tournament winner older Uzbek boxer moved more on feet in their contest and he was hard target for Muratuly. Muzaffarov’s counter-punches arrived with perfect timing therefore the Uzbek joined to the last eight.

India’s Vikas Singh is a newcomer in the national team, he competed only one international event, at the Danas Pozniakas Youth Memorial Tournament in Lithuania on March 2020. The 18-year-old Indian eliminated Bulgaria’s two-time EUBC European Youth Champion Yasen Radev on Day2 and he opened the first round well against Mongolia’s Enkhzorigt Sukhbat in another flyweight (52kg) contest. The Mongolian received strong advices in the first break and he was able to turn back their tough contest and advanced to the quarter-finals.

Japan’s defending ASBC Asian Junior Champion 17-year-old Daiya Kira stopped his Brazilian opponent, Brazil’s Ronald Ribeiro on Day2. The Japanese talent met with Colombia’s Juan Sebastian Palacios in the second preliminary round during the afternoon session of the third day. Kira was smaller than his next South American opponent but his skills and speed were enough to catch Palacios with tough jabs. The final verdict was unanimous decision in the favour of Kira who amazed once again in Kielce.

Kazakhstan’s two-time Youth National Champion Yelnur Suyunbay competes in his first big international championships but he has impressive experiences from tournaments. The tall lightweight (60kg) boxer caught Nicaragua’s Michael Hernandez in the first exchanges and dominated the opening round. He landed mostly jabs from longer range and amazed with his technical skills in Kielce where another Central Asian boxer, Kyrgyzstan’s Askat Kultayev also impressed, stopped his Moldovan rival.

Japan’s ASBC Asian Youth Champion Reito Tsutsumi is unbeaten in the international competitions and he impressed in the afternoon session against Italy’s Daniele Salerno. The Japanese lightweight (60kg) star controlled the first round and decided the contest in the second with tough punches. Following Tsutsumi’s RSC triumph, India’s Akash Gorkha succeeded over Germany’s Enrico Kliesch in the next contest of the category.

Thailand’s Noppaket Srisawas won her debuting contest in Kielce at the women’s bantamweight (54kg) and she had another tough battle, this time against Czech Republic’s EUBC European Women’s Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Claudie Tothova. The Czech girl was competitive but Srisawas could increase her tempo in the third round and the Thai talent joined to the quarter-finals. In the next bout, Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Nigina Uktamova impressed in the second and third rounds against India’s Arshi Khanam in the bout of the evening session. Kazakhstan’s Aishagul Yeleubayeva is the Youth National Champion at the women’s bantamweight (54kg) but is not an experienced international boxer yet. The 18-year-old Kazakh talent was quicker in the exchanges than France’s Zoe Couvercelle and dominated the fight against the European boxer. The referee counted the French following Yeleubayeva’s impressive combinations and after that the Kazakh boxer’s RSC victory was confirmed.
