Japan, Thailand and Uzbekistan started strongly in the Ulan-Ude 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships

Following the spectacular Opening Ceremony, the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships has started with its first competition day in Ulan-Ude, Russia which is located in the Buryatia region near to the Mongolian boarder. The Asian boxers opened their campaigns strongly delivering several surprises on Day1 when Japan, Thailand and Uzbekistan became perfect winning their contests.
Altogether 76 strong Asian elite female boxers are attending in the Ulan-Ude 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships from 13 nations: China, DPR Korea, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Philippines, Tajikistan, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

Uzbekistan’s Gulasal Sultonalieva defeated a favourite Kazakh boxer at the light flyweight (48kg)
Kazakhstan’s Alua Balkybekova was the favourite in the opening bout of the whole competition when she met with Uzbekistan’s Gulasal Sultonalieva. The Kazakh light flyweight (48kg) boxer tried to use her longer reach and controlled the middle of the ring in the first round. The smaller and younger Uzbek was motivated and moved closer to her top rival already in the opening period of their bout. Sultonalieva impressed in the second with her tough left-handed hooks and landed clear punches surprising her neighbouring opponent. The 20-year-old Uzbek was able to keep her rhythm until the end of the bout and defeated her more experienced rival causing the first surprise of the event.

Perfect start for Japan with surprise on Day1
Japan’s Risa Nakata is a 21-year-old talent who competed also in the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships following her national successes. The Japanese girl dominated the first round against Botswana’s Lethabo Modukanale and in the second the referee stopped their contest. After Nakata’s success, another Japanese boxer Tsukimi Namiki was in action on Day1 and she delivered a surprise in Ulan-Ude. Namiki claimed bronze in the last edition but her success over Kazakhstan’s two-time AIBA Women’s World Champion Nazym Kyzaibay was a surprise.

Thailand’s Jutamas Jitpong won a tough battle over her German rival
Thailand’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Chuthamat Raksat started well in the opening day controlling all of the rounds against Australia’s Kayla Riley in Ulan-Ude. The 26-year-old Thai light flyweight (48kg) boxer was too smart for the Aussie girl and advanced to the next stage of the championship. The second Thai success in the opening day of the competition was taken by Jutamas Jitpong who had a tough European opponent, Germany’s experienced Azize Nimani. The younger Thai girl delivered the next sensation of Day1 eliminating her German rival landing several tough hooks.

Uzbekistan’s second success was delivered by Tursunoy Rakhimova on Day1
Uzbekistan’s 22-year-old Tursunoy Rakhimova attended at the bantamweight (54kg) in many events during the year of 2019 but she moved back to the flyweight (51kg) in time before the start of the Ulan-Ude competition. Uzbekistan developed strongly its female elite team in the recent four years and their promising Rakhimova impressed with a top performance on Day1. The Uzbek girl controlled all of the rounds against Morocco’s Yasmine Mouttaki and defeated her North African rival by unanimous decision.
