Iran’s new event, the Pahlavan Pourya Ye Vali Cup is a success

The Pahlavan Pourya Ye Vali Cup is a new event in the international boxing map but it is a great success in the city of Khoy.
The venue of the Pahlavan Pourya Ye Vali Cup is the Shahid Chamran Sport Hall in the city of Khoy. The city of Khoy is located in the Central District of Khoy County in West Azerbaijan province and it has the elevation point of 1,149m.
The President of the Iranian Boxing Federation Mr. Seyed Roohollah Hosseini worked hard in the recent one year to increase the country’s boxing quality and the Iranians earned several ASBC titles as well in 2024.
Iran’s new competition is a great opportunity for all of the elite boxers to prepare well for the forthcoming big championships.
Iran’s Hossein Rezapour had disadvantage in most of the judges’ scorecards after two rounds of fight but he increased the tempo in the third against Afghanistan’s Alireza Jamal. The Afghan boxer received three warnings from the referee which guaranteed Rezapour’s success in the semi-finals.
Iraq’s Mohammad Sattar Shijlawi is a superb talent in the national team who made a strong impact in the day of the semi-finals in Khoy. Iraq’s lightweight (60kg) boxer eliminated Iran’s U23 national team member Mohammadamin Karimi and he will now meet in the final Turkey’s strong Yigit Us who eliminated Kazakhstan’s Alimzhan Beskempir.
Iraq’s ASBC Asian U22 silver medallist Ali Qasim Hamdan Al-Sarray is their best boxer in the elite national team and after Shijlawi, he also succeeded in the semi-finals. The 22-year-old Iraqi used his height advantage and longer hands to beat Kazakhstan’s Almas Duisenkul in of the tightest contests of the session.
Iran’s Kasra Tahmasebi not only started well against a younger teammate, Mohamad Basati but he managed to beat his opponent at the middleweight (75kg). Their U23 boxer Eysa Fardin was too strong for Davoud Alizadeh and he can be Tahmasebi’s final rival in Khoy.
Iran’s Saeid Sadri had a difficult job against an U23 boxer, Shayan Khoshnoodzadeh but he managed that tactical job and he will meet Alireza Alizadeh who walked over against Turkey’s Sultan Osmanli at the light heavyweight (80kg).
The super heavyweight is one of the strongest categories in Iran and their ASBC Asian Youth Champion Amir Esmaeili Vandaei knocked out Afghanistan’s Homayoun Alikhan already in the first round. The 19-year-old Iranian will now face for the title of the competition with Seyed Amirhossein Hosseini in the city of Khoy.
