Mr. Yue Yan: China and Asia is on the best way in boxing
Mr. Yue Yan is the Executive Committee Member of the International Boxing Association and the Asian Boxing Confederation who has got great experiences also as Supervisor from various competitions especially in the Toronto 2015 Panamerican Games and he will be the Deputy Supervisor in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
“China had great results in boxing in the recent years but after the London 2012 Olympic Games we had to build up a new team after our golden age. Two-time Olympic Champion Zou Shiming, Asian Games winner Hu Qing and many other top boxers retired or injured therefore we are trying to reach that previous level with new boxers.
We are registrating 3,000 boxers each year and we re-joined to the World Series of Boxing which was a good experience for our young hopes. We are here with ten boxers but none of them competed previously in any ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships yet. Mainly we are focusing to the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualifiers which we will be hosting in Qianan. Our best boxers Lu Bin and Zhang Jiawei have already qualified from the APB to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and we are hoping to get more quotas next year.
There are only strong men boxers in the current ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships and we could recognize the development of some nations in the continent. Vietnam, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan also developed well which could be the key of our future development,” said Mr. Yue Yan of China who is working also hard for the improvement of Asia’s boxing life.
