Interview with Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid

Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid – Malaysia will be hosting three events in the upcoming months
Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid is Executive Committee Member of the Asian Boxing Confederation and Vice-President of the Malaysian Amateur Boxing Federation. He has got a lot of experiences in our beloved combat sport and we asked him about the boxing activities and future programs in Malaysia.
“We had a successful event this month, the Malaysian Golden Gloves Championships in the Sarawak region in the city of Kuching where we had 89 boxers from 13 teams. We had also R&J examination in the city of Kuching during the Malaysian Golden Gloves Championships for national level referees and judges.
We will be hosting the Malaysia Cup in November to select our best boxers to the future events while we will also arrange R&J course by the time of the event. Following that our next competition will be the Penang Pesta Tournament in the end of December to raise the international experiences of our national team.
We are planning to be held the international Agong Cup next March before the AIBA Asian & Oceania Olympic Qualifiers following the 2014 edition. Promoting women boxing is also our goal after the first period of this project. We had one young lady in the last edition of the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore and hoping to be raised our women boxing in the upcoming years,” said Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid.
