Interview with ASBC EC member Mr. Sisouphanh Sengsavanh in Ho Chi Minh City

Mr. Sisouphanh Sengsavanh is the Executive Committee member of the Asian Boxing Confederation who is also President of the Laos Boxing Federation. We asked him about boxing in Laos and the performance of their boxers in Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Sisouphanh Sengsavanh arrived to Ho Chi Minh City in the recent days to follow the actions and the performance of the debuting female Lao boxers in the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships and negotiated several topics with the ASBC management and also with other officials.
“Asian Boxing Confederation’s support was excellent for us in the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships in Ho Chi Minh City. This means a lot for us in Laos and we are so thankful for ASBC.
Our women boxers are newcomers and competed in a big event at the very first time therefore I am satisfied with their fighting spirit and stamina at the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships. They could prepare two months to the continental event which was a great experience for them.
Vietnam did not host any big boxing events in the recent decade therefore I think this ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships was a good experience for their management, staff and volunteers.
We have got boxing clubs in each regions of our country and have got some future prospects in Laos. We have been hosting dual events together with Cambodia every Saturdays to raise the experiences of our boxers. We will be hosting our National Championships in December for our women and men boxers.
Muay thai boxing is very popular combat sport in Laos but it is a bit different martial art like the Olympic boxing which we want to improve. We were here with two young boxers who could feel how the atmosphere is in a big championship. We are trying to build up our young talents to show their skills and I can tell you Laos would like to participate in the upcoming ASBC events,” said Mr. Sisouphanh Sengsavanh in Ho Chi Minh City.
