Indonesia exceeded the expectations in Tashkent
The Indonesian team exceeded the expectations in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent where five of their talents advanced to the quarter-finals. Indonesia’s Mrs. Shelly Miranda is the Deputy Supervisor of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships and we asked her about the Southeast Asian country’s present and their future goals.
“Uzbekistan Boxing Federation is well organized and their management spent huge amount of money to cover this ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in the highest possible level in Tashkent.
Comparing the level of my Indonesian athletes the Asian boxers are quite high level though some of the countries were not sent their best boxers to the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships to Tashkent this time.
I am quite satisfied with the performance of the Indonesian boxers especially on their stamina. Personally I think they showed what they had been training for in the past three months in Indonesia. Five of our boxers advanced to the quarter-finals of the championships but we need to still work hard on improving their technique and tactic and not to forget to keep them up in strength.
Indonesia’s main goal in the new cycle is the country would be able to be in the position to qualify boxers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and get a medal in Japan. First of all, we have to keep our focus on our Asian Games which will be held in Jakarta next year.
Regarding the preparations to the 2018 Asian Games we are still finalising every single details with our government. I am on hold for the mean time but venues are constructing or renovating now. Everything is going on the schedule and as for boxing itself there are many things I need to sit down and discuss it with AIBA as I had been pressurized by from INASGOC in principal manners,” said Mrs. Shelly Miranda to our questions in the venue of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships.
