India and Philippines have done strong competition day in the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup

The Asian highlight of the week, the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup continued with its third competition day in the Mongolian capital city where further two sessions were held on Day3. India’s Priyanka Chaudhary and her teammate Shyam Kumar Kakara made sensational boxing in the third competition day while the Filipino boxers also were strong in Ulaanbaatar today.
The competition is holding in the currently three Olympic women’s weight classes at the flyweight (51kg), lightweight (60kg) and middleweight (75kg). Furthermore the men boxers will be able to box in seven weight categories from the light flyweight (49kg) up to the middleweight (75kg).
Mongolia’s Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg joined to the women’s national team in 2013 and advanced to the Top8 in the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships as well. The 22-year-old Mongolian talent moved up to the Olympic flyweight (51kg) and showed her technique against Philippines’ Judelyn Casin who won already two contests in the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup. The Mongolian boxer won their spectacular contest by split decision and kept her chance alive to win the whole tournament.
DPR Korea’s Bang Chol Mi is a new Women’s National Champion in her country at the flyweight (51kg) and she was selected to take part in the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup. The North Korean boxer was amazing against such a tough rival India’s five-time AIBA Women’s World Champion Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte in Mongolia. The Indian boxer returned to the ring only in the recent weeks but Bang’s performance and her clear 5:0 triumph was a great sensation today.
India’s Priyanka Chaudhary has got experiences from the international competitions but she was not the favourite against Russia’s Aleksandra Ordina who is the current EUBC European Women’s Champion. The Indian lightweight (60kg) boxer exceeded the expectations and her efforts were enough to beat her Russian rival by split decision in Ulaanbaatar which was her career highlight.
India’s Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympian Shyam Kumar Kakara developed well in the recent one year and he is one of the best Asian light flyweight (49kg) boxer now. The Indian boxer had to meet with Mongolia’s Chinggis Khan Cup winner Enkhmandakh Kharkhuu who was also born in 1996. The Indian boxer was powerful and energetic until the final bell and won their contest by large margin of difference.
Indonesia’s Aldoms Suguro competed already at the 2012 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships and after a few years of trainings in the elite age group he was involved to the national team. Suguro, who competed at the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent, has done great job against Russia’s Bato Sidenov and advanced to the next round at the flyweight (52kg).
Philippines’ Southeast Asian Games winner Charly Suarez moved up to the light welterweight (64kg) since the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and has done his debut in the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup. The veteran Filipino boxer, who is already 29, did not give any chance to Mongolia’s younger pride Norovbal Otgontumur in Ulaanbaatar.
Philippines’ ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships silver medallist and former AIBA Junior World Champion Eumir Felix Marcial is now a strong middleweight (75kg) boxer and recovered from his injuries. The 21-year-old Filipino star had to meet with China’s veteran Hu Richabilige who also moved up to the middleweight (75kg) in the recent months. Marcial found the weak points of his Xinjiang-based Chinese rival and won their contest by split decision in the Mongolian capital.
