Historic winners at the 1st Gulf Countries Youth Games

The first edition of the Gulf Countries Youth Games has been introduced to the region in the previous days and the event was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The event was held just before the start of the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships and supported to raise the international experience of the youth talents.

The President of the UAE Boxing Federation, the previous ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba presented medals and he followed the competition in Abu Dhabi. The Secretary General of the Asian Boxing Confederation Mr. Ali Salameh and the Competition Manager of ASBC Mr. Bassam Ghanem, both watched the bouts of the tournament.

Mr. Billy Vong, Mr. Lenny D’Gama, Mr. Kishen Narsi, and Mr. Berikbol Kassymkhanov were the key ITOs and officials in the Gulf Countries Youth Tournament in Abu Dhabi.

Saudi Arabia’s Nawaf Al-Johani has just joined to the youth age group following his good junior results but he was unstoppable for United Arab Emirates’ Omar Amiri at the minimumweight (48kg). His teammate, Ahmed Kashmiri defeated a boxer from Kuwait, Yaser Hasan at the light middleweight (71kg) final.

Kuwait sent also boxers to the Gulf Countries Youth Games and among them Yaqoub Al-Shaheen succeeded at the lightweight (60kg) in Abu Dhabi.

Sultan Mohsen won the first gold medal for the United Arab Emirates, he defeated Saudi Arabia’s promising Muhammad Majrashi in a superb flyweight (51kg) final. His teammates such as Rashed Al-Badawana (54kg) and Bader Al-Sedrani (57kg) continued the winning part for the host country.

United Arab Emirates’ Abdulla Al-Shehhi has strong experience from the last year’s events such as the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and he won all of the previous national competitions. The welterweight (67kg) boxer was too strong for Kuwait’s Abdulaziz Mohamed in the final of the Games.

Mohamed Al-Barout has strong family connections to boxing and he has the genetics in our sport to be one of the next future stars of the United Arab Emirates. The 17-year-old light heavyweight (80kg) boxer defeated Kuwait’s Saud Farhan in the final and he bagged the last title of the 1st Gulf Countries Youth Games.

 71kg: Ahmed Kashmiri, Saudi Arabia

 75kg: Ibrahim Al-Obeidli, United Arab Emirates

 80kg: Mohamed Al-Barout, United Arab Emirates
