Hero of Day6 in Bangkok – Turkmenistan’s Saparmyrat Odayev
The Asian Boxing Confederation’s new project the Hero of the Day will be published after each competition day during the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships. Following Mongolia’s super talented Mungunsaran Balsan, Jordan’s No.1 Bader Osman Majed Samreen, Thailand’s Panpatchara Somnuek and Japan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Sora Tanaka the next winner is Turkmenistan’s Saparmyrat Odayev.
Saparmyrat Odayev was born in the Balkan region of Turkmenistan in July 22 in 2000 and began boxing early at the age of 7. He joined to the schoolboys age group in 2013 and quickly claimed the gold medal in his first National Championships. Since then he won the titles in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 in his various age groups.
Odayev had to meet in the semi-final of the men’s light welterweight (64kg) with Japan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Sora Tanaka but in spite of the previous chances he exceeded all of the previous expectations and defeated his favourite rival in Bangkok. Odayev used long distance tactic and his reach against the powerful Japanese and his smart boxing delivered for him a place in the gold medal bouts.
