Firdaus and Masihor won the school titles at the Indonesian National Championships with confidence

The Indonesian National Championships is one of the highlights of the week, and the schoolboys and schoolgirls part of the event has just finished in Palu City.

The venue of the Indonesian National Championships is the promising Palu City in the island of Sulawesi. The Palu City is the capital of Central Sulawesi Province in Indonesia and it is located in the northwest coast of the island.

The Indonesian Boxing Federation will celebrate its 66th anniversary end of this month and the competition is another great commitment from their new management which is planning to increase the level of the sport in all aspects.

The new President of the Indonesian Boxing Federation, Mrs. Dr. Hillary Brigitta Lasut, S.H., LL.M. and the top officials all followed the bouts in the venue.

Maluku topped the medal standings of the Indonesian Schoolboys &Schoolgirls National Championships with three titles. The team of Jakarta bagged two titles and became the runner-up in the Nationals while boxers from Sulawesi Tengah, Sulawesi Utara and Sulawesi Selatan also claimed gold medals in the schoolboys event.

Jakarta’s Putri Mahesa Ayu Firdaus controlled the first and second rounds against Daniela Flavia in the final of the schoolgirls 49kg weight category. Firdaus increased her tempo in the third round and her opponent’s ringside abandoned the unequal fight in the final bout.

Al Farel Amarullah delivered the next sensational performance in the national event, he defeated Mohammad Ifal Manan at the schoolboys 35kg weight class. Zahran Al Ghazali had a more difficult title contest against Yakob Justin Marayate but finally he succeeded to take the 37kg weight category.

Ishack Timothy Masihor has strong family connections to boxing and he dominated the schoolboys 40kg category with impressive technical skills. Following the brilliant first round, Akbar Armin was not able to continue the final bout in the second due to Masihor’s strength.

Kenny Pangadaheng impressed in the semi-finals and finals at the 43kg weight class and he became the next gold medallist. Jakarta’s Kevin Antonio Junior Mana (46kg), Al Ayubi Tadji (49kg) and Rhafli Y. Ibrahim (52kg) won the remaining titles in Sulawesi.
