Experienced talents demonstrated their power in the Tajikistan Youth National Championships

The Tajikistan Youth National Championships was held in Dushanbe where the favourites as Sumaya Kosimova, Idimokh Kholova, Khudoynazar Malakhbekov, Djamshedjon Gofurov and Mukhammad Abdurakhmonov won their weight classes in the four-day long competition which was also selection for the international competitions.
Boxers who were born in 2000 and 2001 were eligible to compete in the Tajikistan Youth National Championships in Tursunzoda. The age group of the competition was matched to the eligibility of the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games and their qualification events which is among Tajikistan’s long term strategies.
Altogether 17 young women athletes and 102 male boxers attended in the national event in their capital and fourteen champions have been crowned. Women boxers could compete in the four weight classes which will be official in the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games: 51kg, 57kg, 60kg and 75kg.
Tajikistan’s biggest women’s youth hopeful Sumaya Kosimova won one contest at the 2015 AIBA Women’s Junior World Boxing Championships in Taipei and achieved bronze medal in the Children of Asia Games one year ago. Dushanbe’s 17-year-old pride was in different level than Khafizabonu Akhtamova in the final of the flyweight (51kg) and won her next national title in Tajikistan.
Dushanbe’s next favourite Mavluda Inoyatullo eliminated Mokhinavjon Nodirova and Fotima Azimova in the road to the final of the featherweight (57kg) where she was too smart for Ekaterina Ursova. Khatlon’s Nozanin Bobokhonova stopped both of his opponents, Aziza Tursunboyeva and Natidjamo Ismonova at the lightweight (60kg) which delivered for her a title in the championships.
Tajikistan’s women’s middleweight (75kg) talent Idimokh Kholova attended at the 2015 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Chinese Taipei and she also acquired bronze medal in the last edition of the Children of Asia Games one year ago as Sumaya Kosimova. The 17-year-old was knocked down Khatlon’s Mavluda Odinayeva in the first round and the referee confirmed his RSC success.
Khatlon’s Ilyos Djamshedov claimed bronze medal in the last edition of the Tajikistan Junior National Championships eight months ago but this time he was able to beat all of his four rivals at the light flyweight (49kg). He defeated Dushanbe’s Rasul Akhadov in the final of the championships while the two favourites such as Junior National Champion Mavlon Fayziyev and Dilshod Okilov were not able to advance to the finals.
Tajikistan’s current Junior National Champion Khudoynazar Malakhbekov was born in 2001 and proved his top performance also in the Dushanbe Junior Championships in December. The 16-year-old talent eliminated Khatlon’s Alijon Khoshimov in the semi-final and continued his winning path against Badakhshan’s Shaydo Shermamadov in the final of the flyweight (52kg).
Khudjand’s Djamshedjon Gofurov was in the Top8 in the Children of Asia Games in Yakutsk and also in the 2015 ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Tashkent. Surprisingly he claimed only silver medal in the last edition of the Tajikistan Junior National Championships but this time he dominated all of his contests including the final against Dushanbe’s Mekhrob Khomidov.
Khudjand’s Zamirbek Kayumov was only quarter-finalist in the Tajikistan Junior National Championships but he did amazing performance against Sadam Nazarov, Junior National Champion Abdurakhmon Yokubov and Dushanbe’s Toshpulod Khomidov in the final of the lightweight (60kg). Tajikistan Junior National Championships bronze medallist Shakhboz Kamolov eliminated the favourite Abdumalik Boltayev in the semi-final and he was able to continue his winning path against Ergashboy Ergashev in the final.
Khudjand’s Mukhammad Abdurakhmonov attended in the 2015 AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships in St. Petersburg and won their Junior National Tournament one year ago. He moved down to the welterweight (69kg) but his skills were enough to beat Khatlon’s Ramoil Kurbonov in the gold medal bout by 3:2.
Tajikistan’s defending Junior National Champion Faridun Egamberdiyev had enough experiences from his schoolboy and junior years to dominate the middleweight (75kg) in the Youth National Championships. He defeated his main rival Mekhrodj Mavlonov in the semi-final and did not give any chance to Davronbek Ergashev in the title contest.
Isfara’s 16-year-old Saidabdullo Sarisokov won the title in the last edition of the Tajikistan Junior National Championships and he defeated all of his three rivals in his next national event including Shokhrukh Kungurodzoda in the final of the light heavyweight (81kg). Islombek Aliyev is a new face in Tajikistan’s boxing life but he was able to win his contests by RSC at the heavyweight (91kg). The last gold medal of the event was captured by Ravshan Gulov following his success over Khatlon’s Faridun Samiyev.
