Experienced Pakistani boxers aiming for medals in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships

Pakistan will be sending 7-strong team to the next edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships which will be held in the Uzbek capital in Tashkent in a few days. The management of the South Asian country is working hard to regain their previous place in the Asian elite and give chance to their best boxers to compete in the Uzbek capital.
Pakistan’s No.1 Quetta-based Mohibullah Bacha is an experienced light flyweight (49kg) boxer who competed in his very first international event still in 2010. Since then he competed in the last edition of the Commonwealth Games and also in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Bangkok but his career highlight is a silver medal from the 2016 South Asian Games.
Balochistan’s Taipei City Cup silver medallist younger hope Syed Muhammad Asif also joined to the international level in 2010 when he attended at the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Baku. The 23-year-old flyweight (52kg) boxer also claimed silver medal in the last edition of the South Asian Games in Shillong as Mohibullah and tried to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Pakistan’s Army boxer Salman Baloch will be the youngest team member in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent who turned to 20 this January. The light welterweight (64kg) boxer won the All Pakistan Amir Khan Tournament in Karachi and claimed bronze in the last edition of the Pakistan National Championships.
The second Army boxer in the team will be 25-year-old Gul Zaib who competed in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Bangkok and also in the South Asian Games in Shillong. Since then he moved up to the welterweight (69kg) and will be debuting in his new category in the Uzbek capital.
Tanveer Ahmed is one of the best hope for Pakistan to take a medal in the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. The 24-year-old middleweight (75kg) boxer claimed silver medal in the 2016 South Asian Games and lost to only India’s two-time Olympian Vikas Krishan Yadav in a close bout.
Awais Ali Khan won the last four editions of the national events in Pakistan and also has got chance to do surprise in the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. He won his preliminary bout in the last edition in Bangkok and also defeated two strong European rivals in the 2015 World Military Games. The 30-year-old light heavyweight (81kg) boxer has got great stamina and could be delivered a surprise in Tashkent.
Balochistan’s strong heavyweight (91kg) boxer Sanaullah joined to the national team in 2014 and he was in the Top8 at the Asian Games in Incheon. The 189cm tall boxer claimed silver medal in the last edition of the Pakistan National Championships and he is now enough experienced to win contests against top rivals.
