Eleven nations represent the finals in the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships

The 49 semi-final contests were held in the sixth competition at the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates today where the winners remained their chance alive to get their titles. Altogether 11 Asian nations have got chance to win the gold medals in Fujairah where India, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China are the best countries following the semi-finals.

The number of the countries is record number of 26 in the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates where boxers who were born in 2003 or in 2004 are eligible to attend. The number of the boxers is also record breaking 239 altogether including 170 male and 69 female athletes in Fujairah.

Philippines’ lone finalist in the event is Eljay Pamisa at the male pinweight (46kg)
Philippines’ lone remained boxer Eljay Pamisa had a tough road to the semi-finals of the pinweight (46kg) in Fujairah. He had a tough Southeast Asian regional opponent in the semi-finals, Thailand’s Khon Kaen Junior National Games winner Thanakon Aonyaem who started their bout with quick punches. The younger Pamisa adopted the level of the bout quickly and eliminated one of the favourites in the last four. He will be boxing for the gold medal with India’s Vishvanath Singh who eliminated Uzbekistan’s Ikboljon Kudratov which was a surprise on Day6.

Kazakhstan’s Abdulla Patiyev and Japan’s Daiya Kira will be meeting for the gold at the male flyweight (50kg)
Kazakhstan’s Abdulla Patiyev had excellent international results in the recent one year and arrived to Fujairah as a favourite for the gold medal at the flyweight (50kg). The 16-year-old Kazakh had to meet with India’s Vijay Singh for the title bout and he looked motivated from the first seconds. The Kazakh boxer felt the tempo better in the first round and overcame his Indian rivals in the attacks but Singh had also a few good punches. Patiyev was slightly better in the exchanges which means the Kazakh boxer will be meeting with Japan’s Bornemissza Junior Memorial Tournament winner Daiya Kira in the final.

Tajikistan’s Abdurakhim Yokubov proved technician performance in the semi-finals
Tajikistan’s Abdurakhim Yokubov arrived from a boxing family and in spite of the fact that he is only 15, he competed international events already in 2016. The Tajik bantamweight (54kg) boxer met in the last four with Iran’s Mohammad Parsi who could not use the same tactic than as the quarter-final. Yokubov moved better on feet and avoided most of the aggressive Iranian attacks while his counter-punches were successful. The Tajik boxer worked well in the third round and proved better style of boxing which means Yokubov can fight for the gold with Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Altynbek.

Uzbekistan’s Bekzod Bekmurodov eliminated a top Thai rival at the lightweight (60kg)
Uzbekistan’s Bekzod Bekmurodov and Thailand’s Phanuwat Butchan both were born in 2004 which means they will be allow to box in the junior level next year as well. The Uzbek Junior National Champion overcome his Southeast Asian opponent in the first round and landed more punches. The Uzbek lightweight (60kg) youngster used a superb footwork to keep the best fighting distance in the second and third rounds when the Thai Youth National Games winner attacked more. The final verdict was unanimous decision in the favour of Bekmurodov who will be meeting for the title with Kazakhstan’s Abzal Serik who became technically better than India’s Vanshaj today.

Kazakhstan’s Sultan Babakhanov dominated his semi-final over the Uzbek with world class style of boxing
Kazakhstan has got excellent traditions at the welterweight (66kg) and their new junior in this category is Sultan Babakhanov who arrived to Fujairah with perfect yearly record. The 16-year-old Babakhanov is the best Kazakh junior boxer in their current team who proved amazing style of boxing in the semi-finals against Uzbekistan’s two-time Schoolboys National Champion Alokhon Abdullaev. The Kazakh boxer used his longer reach in their semi-final and the referee had to count also the Uzbek in the second when he showed also his strength. Babakhanov dominated their semi-final and he is also the favourite for the gold against India’s Jaydeep Rawat.

Uzbekistan’s Nusratbek Tokhirov defeated Kyrgyzstan’s strong hope in the semi-finals of the middleweight (75kg)
Uzbekistan’s Nusratbek Tokhirov won several events in 2018 but following his injury he returned to the world of boxing in time to attend in the preparation camps for the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. The Uzbek middleweight (75kg) boxer had a tough rival in the semi-finals, Kyrgyzstan’s Kabatay Mukash Uulu who has excellent physical skills. The Uzbek started the first round better and landed effective jabs and took the lead on the scorecards. Mukash Uulu has done a superb finish in the third round but his efforts were not enough to turn back their fight therefore Tokhirov will be boxing for the title with China’s Pu Yang who bowed out South Korea’s Im Hyeon Guk.

Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Zokirov stopped his Kazakh opponent
Uzbekistan’s 16-year-old promising star Jakhongir Zokirov arrived to the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships with perfect record and gold medals from international junior tournaments. The Uzbek heavyweight (+80kg) boxer is the son of Lazizbek Zokirov who competed in the Budapest 1997 AIBA World Boxing Championships. Zokirov eliminated his top rival in the quarter-finals, India’s Vishal Gupta and won his semi-final by RSC against Kazakhstan’s Roman Diar. He will be facing for the gold medal with Kyrgyzstan’s Argen Baktybekov who stopped United Arab Emirates’ Abdullah Al-Hosani winning the bout by RSC in the first round.

Thailand’s Yodwaree and India’s Kalpana are the first female finalists in the ASBC Asian Junior Championships
India’s Kalpana began her boxing career three years ago but she became their Junior National Champion a few months ago. Amanpreet Kaur’s pupil trains in the city of Ambala and worked hard to reach the level of the top Asian junior boxers. The 16-year-old pinweight (46kg) boxer worked better in each round than Chinese Taipei’s Liu Chien Ling and won their contest by unanimous decision. The Indian will have a hard job in the final against Thailand’s No.1 Thipsatcha Yodwaree who overwhelmed Uzbekistan’s Mohlaroyim Savriddinova.

China’s Deng Lanping and Uzbekistan’s Feruza Kazakova are the finalists at the women’s flyweight (50kg)
China’s Junior National Games winner Deng Lanping had a tough rival in the semi-finals of the women’s flyweight (50kg) in Fujairah where she had to meet with India’s Rinku. The 16-year-old Chinese had a strong strategy in their fight and eliminated the experienced Indian fighter in the semi-finals. Deng will be facing for the gold medal with Uzbekistan’s Feruza Kazakova who used an aggressive style against Thailand’s Khon Kaen Junior National Games winner 15-year-old Natnicha Chongprongklang in the second semi-final of the category.

Japan’s Yuga Ozaki and India’s Bishwamitra Chongtham are the finalists in the tough light flyweight (48kg)
India’s Bishwamitra Chongtham won three contests during his road to the semi-finals at the light flyweight (48kg) and eliminated top opponents as well. The 16-year-old Indian had a tough footwork against Chinese Taipei’s Yu Ching Wei and his unpredictable movement was the way of his success today. The Indian will be boxing for the titles with Japan’s Yuga Ozaki who has done one of the biggest surprises of the sixth competition day when he eliminated Uzbekistan’s top favourite Asrorbek Shakhobiddinov.

Uzbekistan’s Azizbek Tojiev had a quick semi-final at the light welterweight (63kg)
Uzbekistan’s Azizbek Tojiev is one of their best boxers in the current junior age group who impressed in all of his international tournaments this year. The 16-year-old Uzbek light welterweight (63kg) boxer spent only a short time in the ring when he met with Mongolia’s Elbeg Chuluuntogtokh. Tojiev started the contest in amazing rhythm and following the second standing counts, the referee stopped their bout still in the first round. Tojiev will be meeting for the gold medal with India’s Yogesh Kagra who surprisingly eliminated Kyrgyzstan’s No.1 Sagyn Satybaldy Uulu in a hectic bout.

Uzbekistan’s promising Login Petrov is now a finalist in Fujairah
Uzbekistan’s No.1 Login Petrov is one of their best boxers in the junior national team who is almost unbeaten during his whole career. The Uzbek light middleweight (70kg) boxer’s father is his coach who has been working hard together to get top results in the international stages. Petrov eliminated Kazakhstan’s Rakhymzhan Shanzharkhan in the quarter-finals and continued his winning path against China’s Pan Xuanxuan. The experienced Uzbek will be meeting with India’s Rahul where he can expect tough attacks from his opponent.

Kyrgyzstan’s Khalit Aliev eliminated his second top rival in Fujairah
Kyrgyzstan’s Khalit Aliev was the first male boxer in the whole ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships who bowed out an Uzbek athlete. The 16-year-old Kyrgyz heavyweight (80kg) boxer had to meet with another top Central Asian, Kazakhstan’s Madi Amirov in the semi-finals. Aliev defeated most of his Kazakh rivals in the recent one year and he was also slightly better than Amirov today. The Kyrgyz boxer will be meeting for the title contest with China’s Wang Yaofeng who controlled his semi-final against South Korea’s Jeon Ji Min.

Uzbekistan’s Sabina Bobokulova became finalist as expected in Fujairah
Uzbekistan’s Sabina Bobokulova won three international tournaments in the recent one year and defeated top Russian and Kazakh boxers on these occasions. The 16-year-old top Uzbek female junior boxer was smaller than Mongolia’s Nominerdene Davaazorig but her pressurizing style was uncomfortable for her opponent. Bobokulova controlled all of the rounds against the Mongolian and she needs only one further step to be crowned in Fujairah where her final opponent is India’s Tamanna.

India’s Tannu and Uzbekistan’s Nigina Uktamova are the finalists at the women’s light bantamweight (52kg)
India sent a tough female team to the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships where their light bantamweight (52kg) boxer Tannu had a tough fight against Kazakhstan’s Anzhelika Tsoy. The 16-year-old Indian had to do her very best to beat her Central Asian opponent which contest was one of the best female fights on Day6. In the second semi-final in this division Uzbekistan’s experienced Nigina Uktamova landed more punches than Thailand’s 15-year-old Lalita Chainarong.

China’s Liu Yuhang won her second fight in Fujairah
China’s Junior National Games winner Liu Yuhang knocked out Uzbekistan’s Anorakhon Melieva in the quarter-finals on Day5. The Chinese welterweight (66kg) boxer had a stronger opponent in the day of the semi-finals when she met with Kazakhstan’s Zhibek Zharaskyzy. Liu started boxing four years ago and the southpaw started the first round effectively against her Central Asian opponent. The Chinese boxer was not able to keep her top performance until the last gong but she could win her difficult semi-final which means she can meet for the title with Chinese Taipei’s Chang Chia Hsun.
