Eleven Asian triumphs in the first day at the Junior World Boxing Championships

The first competition day of the IBA Junior World Boxing Championships finished in Yerevan, Armenia where one session was in the official program. The Asian boxers won eleven boxers out of the 29 in the first preliminary competition day in the Armenian capital.

Boxers who were born in 2007 and in 2008 are eligible to participate in the Junior World Boxing Championships. Afghanistan, Chinese Taipei, India, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Qatar, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan sent their boxers from the Asian continent.

Turkmenistan’s Sanjar Hamrayev earned a silver medal in the recent ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and he saved his best shape to Yerevan as well. Turkmenistan’s new pride controlled all of the three rounds against Hungary’s 15-year-old Abel Koromi and he eliminated his first rival out of his way.

Mansurkhuja Muminov impressed in the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and the young Tajik hope had a fantastic first round against Ecuador’s Jeremias Borja. The South American responded to that high rhythm in the second round but Tajikistan’s top light flyweight (48kg) boxer was able to win their narrow contest in Yerevan.

Kyrgyzstan’s new ASBC Asian Junior Champion Amantur Dzhumayev and Uzbekistan’s Ibrokhim Giyosov were favorites at the light bantamweight (52kg) before the start of the competition. The two neighbors had to meet each other already in the Round of 32 and Dzhumayev worked hard to win their tight contest until the last seconds.

Afghanistan was not able to take part in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships but they could send a small delegation to Yerevan. Amanollah Sahak had the strong fighting spirit to overcame Slovakia’s Sebastian Chocholacek in the attacks and he eliminated his European rival at the featherweight (57kg).

Uzbekistan’s Pakhlavonjon Ibrokhimov and Kazakhstan’s Bauyrzhan Muratov met in an exciting preliminary contest at the men’s featherweight (57kg) today. Muratov had nice technical skills but Ibrokhimov had the confidence how to rule this contest from the first seconds and the Uzbek marched to the last 16.

Kazakhstan’s Kenessaryamir Marzhikpayev did not underestimate Guatemala’s multiple National Champion in various age groups, Cristian Stiven Mata and he won their light welterweight (63kg) contest in Yerevan. India’s Moirangthem Kabiraj Singh and Uzbekistan’s Khikmatillo Ulmasov both were skilled enough to eliminate European rivals in this weight class.
