Eighteen future stars won the titles in the Manny Pacquiao National Boxing Championships in Mandaue City

Manny Pacquiao is a national boxing icon in the Philippines and a junior and youth event was named after him in the Southeast Asian country. The Association of the Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) hosted its Manny Pacquiao National Boxing Championships in Mandaue City which is located in the island of Cebu.
The national event was held for the youth and junior boxers in Cebu where 18 boxers could celebrate their titles after all competition days. Women’s boxers could attend in four junior and four youth weight categories in the Manny Pacquiao National Boxing Championships. Five junior and also five youth men weight classes were also in the official program of the Manny Pacquiao National Boxing Championships in Mandaue City.
Altogether 29 teams attended in the Manny Pacquiao National Boxing Championships from all over the Philippines and among them Cagayan de Oro topped the rankings with their seven gold medals. Finally ten different squads were able to get at least one title in the Manny Pacquiao National Boxing Championships.
Philippines produced strong performance in the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games, in the Bangkok 2018 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships and also in the Budapest 2018 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships. The Southeast Asian boxing power has got strong talents and their coaches found new future aces in the Manny Pacquiao National Boxing Championships.
The first gold medal of the whole Manny Pacquiao National Boxing Championships was taken by Mariel Talandrata at the women’s junior light flyweight (48kg) where she was too smart for Jeysalyn Augusto in the final. Ailene Kaye Caranagan delivered Cagayan de Oro’s first gold medal among their seven following her success over Mary Sinadjan in the final of the junior flyweight (50kg).
Cagayan de Oro’s Elaide Pamisa won the gold medal in the Philippine National Games this May and she was too strong for all of her opponents in the Manny Pacquiao National Boxing Championships where she stopped Allysa Gleze Balaba in the final of the youth light flyweight (48kg). Norilyn Jardeliza also claimed the title at the Philippine National Games three and half months ago and in spite of the fact she moved down to the flyweight (51kg) she dominated her division in Mandaue City.
Joven Paala won the Mindanao regional competition in May and performed strongly in the Manny Pacquiao National Boxing Championships at the pinweight (46kg) where he defeated Kim Catedrillia in the final. A super talented Filipino from Cagayan de Oro Mark Lester Durens won the Philippine National Games among the youth boxers but he had to do his very best against a dangerous rival Jim Paul Dignos in his next final.
Cagayan de Oro’s John Ignatius Macas claimed the gold medal in Mindanao Leg of the Manny Pacquiao National Boxing Championships in May and the Philippine National Games therefore he was a strong favourite for the gold medal in Mandaue City as well. The 17-year-old boxer triumphed over Jobert Paala in the final of the youth flyweight (52kg) raising his number of titles in 2018.
John Paul Panuayan and Jere Samuel De La Cruz both won the Philippine National Games in the last week of May and defeated all of their rivals by RSC in the Manny Pacquiao National Boxing Championships. John Paul Gabunelas also impressed in the youth part of the competition and won the men’s light flyweight (49kg) which category is traditionally strong in the Philippines.
