Eight boxers defended their titles in the Tajikistan Elite National Boxing Championships

The five women and the eight men finals were held in the Tajikistan Elite National Boxing Championships in Dushanbe which was the first competition since March 16. Sumaiya Kosimova, Mizhgona Samadova, Shoira Zulkaynarova, Idimokh Kholova, Bakhtovar Sagizov, Bakhtiyar Mirzomukhammed, Davlat Boltayev and Siyovush Zukhurov defended their thrones in the Tajikistan Elite National Boxing Championships.

There are not any Covid-19 Coronavirus infections in Tajikistan therefore their National Boxing Federation did not stop their planned national events. Boxers who were born between 1980 and 2001 are eligible to attend in the Tajikistan Elite National Boxing Championships which is their next selection competition for the later international actions.

Tajikistan’s reigning ASBC Asian Champion Bakhodur Usmonov (63kg) and FISU University World Champion Shabbos Negmatulloev (81kg) both qualified for the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games through the Amman competition. Both qualified boxers received the right to rest in their Tajikistan Elite National Boxing Championships.

The two top boxers at the women’s flyweight (51kg) advanced to the finals in the Tajikistan National Championships which key contest was won by Dushanbe’s 20-year-old Sumaiya Kosimova who defeated another young rival, Rukhafzo Khaknazarova. Dushanbe’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships competitor Mizhgona Samadova spent short time in the ring against Madinai Abdulkholikzoda and won the title of the featherweight (57kg).

ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships bronze medallist Shoira Zulkaynarova also dominated her final in Dushanbe and stopped Shakhlo Rakhimova achieving her next title at the lightweight (60kg). The next top final at the welterweight (69kg) was won by ASBC Asian Women’s Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Idimokh Kholova who defeated Nilufar Boboyorova in a tight contest. The fifth women title was taken by Farzona Karimova at the women’s middleweight (75kg) after beating Farzona Shoymurodova.  

The men’s flyweight (52kg) delivered a tough bout which was won by Mukhammad Abdusamadzoda who triumphed over 19-year-old Emomali Rakhmon in the final of the National Championships. Khatlon’s technician national team member Bakhtovar Sagizov defended his throne at the men’s featherweight (57kg) where he was able to beat Abdullo Sharipov who also competed internationally in the recent three years.

ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships competitor Abdurakhmon Yokubov of Sughd region joined to the elite age group in 2019 and after 16 months of experiences he became National Champion at the lightweight (63kg) after beating Shukrat Salomatov. The final of the welterweight (69kg) delivered the biggest surprise in the event which was won by Saidikrom Amonov over Shokhrukh Oganazarov who has been attending in the international stage since 2011.

Zolotarev Memorial Tournament winner Bakhtiyar Mirzomukhammed represented Tajikistan in several international events in the recent 10 years and he defended his throne at the middleweight (75kg) against Sughd region’s Youth National Champion Zamirbek Kayumov. AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Akhmadjon Saidov accomplished his goal and defeated Students National Champion Nekruz Sharipov in the final of the light heavyweight (81kg).

Dushanbe’s Davlat Boltayev was quarter-finalist at the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event and following the Amman challenge he defended his national throne over returning boxer Jasur Qurbonov. Former Youth Olympian Siyovush Zukhurov represented Tajikistan at the super heavyweight (+91kg) in the recent years and he was slightly better than former Asian Games winner and two-time Olympian Jakhon Qurbonov in the last final.
